More than 20 contacts with their customer service department regarding an internal error that they have made. I have spent more than 20 hours jumping through hoops to get them to pay a bill they have agreed that they are responsible for. Each time I am required to send a different document a different way. The PNI record must be faxed. The original receipt must be emailed. 0 of 5 stars is my review. My/our Aetna premiums are deducted from my husband's paychecks every payday, but when I needed a surgical procedure, Aetna declined to approve the surgery. Aetna claimed it was "experimental" and "not medically necessary". I have 9 years of supporting documentation of attempts to remedy the issue non-surgically, all have failed. Now Aetna has failed too.
I have had problems getting through to a representative from my medical office phone. Our office went 8 months unable to contact anyone regarding multiple processing errors on claims. I can now get through on other lines, but our primary office phone number is still not able to connect. I have filed complaints via every channel suggested, but still do not have a resolution going on year 2 of this problem. I work for a providers office and attempted to call in today due to an issue with payment. No matter what button I pushed, the automated system would not allow me to speak to a customer service representative. As my appeals have gone unanswered, I now am forced to invoice the patient. Aetna has cut costs becoming more automated but at the expense of the people the insure. The company is a far cry from what it once was.
I had some tests done that my Primary Care Doctor has wanted done to determine the cause of my wheezing while exercising. Aetna paid the claim the first time, but then about 7 months later they charged it back to the provider, who then charged me for the services. for *SIX* MONTHS I went back and forth between the 2 companies trying to get the COVERED SERVICES PAID, after 6 months the provider threatened to send me to collections, so I had to pay it. My daughter was in a car accident in Feb, 2018. After going back and forth between the car insurance and Aetna (our health insurance), we were able to settle the 'policy covered' amount with the car insurance. We gave the 'exhaustion letter' to Aetna in the beginning of May. It's been almost 3 months and Aetna has yet to send all the EOB's (explanation of benefit) to the medical providers. I keep getting robocalls about my health insurance from them when I'm covered through my employer. I've reported them to the "Do Not Call Registry" and have blocked their calls. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!!
Don't even bother thinking you are covered by the short-term disability insurance. My doctor took me out of work for a month and Aetna is the worse. They requested the same documents 3 times! My doctor faxed documentation 3 times with fax confirmation proof. I've uploaded the same documents 3 times. We got Aetna through the market place . We have had nothing but trouble. Since January we have been fighting for bill after bill. And nothing has been paid. If they pay its $9.00 off a $200 bill. They say they have to review for previous medical conditions but it’s been since the end of January. So I’m paying every month for insurance but I can’t use it because I never know if they will pay anything . It’s a waste of money
