First of all, their health insurance plan is worthless. The deductibles are so high, you cannot afford to use it. Second, I was trying to get on an assistance grant to cover a medication that I could not afford WITH Aetna's coverage, but Aetna had my status entered wrong in the system. When the grant program tried to enroll me, they kept finding this wrong status, which prevented my enrollment. I am a current customer and I am beyond frustrated with this insurance company. I always have to call customer service to get my medicine approved even though my doctor said it is medically necessary for me to have the medicine. Atena also took 10 days to preauthorize my MRI & now they are denying my surgery stating its not necessary. Currently I can't sit for more than 10 mins, I cant walk far and I have a Limp, and I can't sleep through the night because my back and knee is hurting that bad. For all intents and purposes Aetna does not reimburse for COVID tests. First, the claims page on their website has no option to submit a claim, I guess in the hope that you head there to submit something, give up, and don't make them pay for anything. The only way to get a form is to basically search in google for it. Then you need to submit a medical claim form which is wildly technical. Then once they receive and process that form, you need to wait to submit the covid form which again you need to google. There are no instr... read more
worst customer service i've ever experienced in 6 years dealing with insurance companies trying to get patients what they need. I work at a hospital and tried to get a needed medication reapproved for a patient. they denied the drug despite appeals and evidence provided demonstrating the patient needed the medication. then spent over 8 hours dealing with their phone tree and disgraceful personnel. some seemed to want to help but were unable some just hung up on me. no supervisors exist to resolve problems apparently. no cust... read more
Absolutely horrible. I'm owed $3,000 in out of network reimbursement from Atena. I filled out all the proper forms, triple checked the documentation from my doctor and submitted everything. After two months, I heard nothing, and called to follow up. I was told over the phone that it looks like their Claims team had filed my claim incorrectly and I should have gotten paid. Customer Service is Horrible! 3 calls to request list of dermatologist for Arena's network. First call July 5th. Last call today 8/2/21. I have been told that it takes 24/48 to get an email. It's been almost a month. I'm still waiting ????????
I would give 0 stars or negative stars if possible. The customer service representatives with aetna dental insurance are horrific. If I was one of them I would be ashamed to work there and try desperately to get a different job even if it pays less. This is by far the worst health insurance I have ever had and I’ve had a few. They won’t even cover my MRI despite the fact that multiple doctors and specialists have told them that I have signs of having a rotator cuff tear. And it’s not just this one thing that’s been a problem, it’s a lot of things that have accumulated over the two years that I’ve had this health insurance company. Never again will I go with this company.
If 0 stars were allowed, that's what I would give Aetna. For several years I have been forced to deal with their lousy scams. I pay high premiums, high deductibles and then Aetna backs out of coverage leaving my husband and me with high medical bills. Every doctor visit causes me to fight on several phone calls to get them to approve a claim where THEY made a mistake.
