I am 81 and signed with Aetna the beginning this year! It was a Medicare plan and they promised me all kinds of things. The initial attraction was that office visits to my primary care physician was free..........NOT! In early Feb., (2022), I went to an former physician that I had for quite a few years. Aetna medical insurance. Every time I have a procedure, I always call ahead to a Aetna representative to confirm that the payment and procedure is approved. It’s always approved beforehand by them. Without fail, I always receive a bill from the procedure provider. Call them, they say “no referral and, not approved “ this happens with every procedure and/ or Dr visit. I’m always chasing them down to pay the bill. It’s frustrating, and a big waste of time.
I have this dental insurance from my job and it is absolutely awful. The website is terrible and they make you print the ID card yourself. The help line is joke and it barely covers any cost. I pay mostly out of pocket and I was so tired of trying to cover those costs that I got a HSA account just for my dental copays. My husband and I are so mad and always have so much stress trying to do anything with them. We hate the website and the app. It is not user friendly.
Horrible, money-first company. If they could exist without customers who are patients, they would. My father was denied rehab after being in the hospital for three weeks. The last week of which COULD have been spent in rehab, resulting in a better patient experience and outcome. Just turned 65. Spent a good amount of time trying to select a Medicare Advantage plan. Finally settled on one because my doctor was in network. The plan is supposed to be from Jan. 1- Dec 31. Just received notice that as of July 27 my doctor is no longer in network. Seems like a bait and switch. They should not be able to change coverage mid-year.
Aetna systematically denies reimbursement for legitimate health costs for seniors. They calculate that seniors will not take the initiative to assert their legitimate health service rights.
Disrespectful customer service. Aetna-would not look at why the claim was denied, they would just deny claim. Aetna Staff responded each time with, reply-“ physician’s office hasn’t filed the claim. “ in reality, they would not even look at the claim, cause they said coverage wasn’t qualified. In my case, I was the benefit holder. My husband and I had full benefits, and they were being paid for by Aetna. Aetna would not pay claims on my four-year-old little boy. I was told my provider was in network. It wasn’t until after I got the bills for an MRI and X-ray that I was informed she isn’t, in fact, in network. I have called serval times since January (it is now the end of June) to inquire on the status of the appeal, being told over and over “rest assured we will call you as soon as we have the results of the appeal.” Well now the hospital is calling me because they want their money as it has been MONTHS. I am a provider. They paid claims of a patient for a year. Suddenly they stopped paying. When I would call, I would wait on hold up to 45 minutes. Then they would tell me with each phone call that the claim was being escalated and would be paid in 4 -6 weeks. Never did that claim get paid. Now I have another claim I had hoped would get paid. Same thing, on hold a long time. A rep gets on the phone and says the claim they received is in process still.......10 weeks later! Then she started telling me she would........."escalat... read more
