Awful Would not refund or even give a credit on our $1600 We supposedly had insurance but that did not matter

Cancelled our reservation less than 3 weeks before our stay. Claimed "repairs won't be finished in time". They gave us no warning there were even repairs in the works and they've likely been going on for months. Reservations made over 3 months ago and now they left 12 people without a destination and no time to reschedule in the area. Absolutely ZERO repercussions when the host cancels. All they could do is refund money and say "sorry".
Dear Guest Ambassador, I wrote a letter to the company on September 30, 2020, and received an automated reply from the management group that I would get a response within 14 days. Booked our vacation on 1-17-2020 (for a vacation on May 30th) and paid 1/2 down and opted in for travel insurance offered through Southern Resorts. Had to cancel our trip in May. Our travel insurance claim was denied (a foreseeable event clause within the policy due to the Corna Virus) because the policy was not started until 3-26-2020, which according to the CSA insurance is when they received payment for this - but I paid for this through Southern Resorts on 1-17-2020. First time user of the rental company. Found them to be very unaccommodating to reschedule a rental during hurricane Sally, even thought the home was empty for the period we wished to reschedule.Ended up not going due to hurricane and loosing 4 days rental fees.
Do Not Use Southern Vacation Rentals in Alabama and Florida. Very bad experience with customer service and cleanliness of unit. Arrived to the office at Southern Vacation Rentals in Perdido Key Florida to a locked office. Was given a code for a box on the outside of the building that did not work. There was another family trying to check in at the same time and their code did not work either. We were told to text manager and they would call us. We booked a rental property in October in Pensacola for Memorial Day Weekend. Due to the pandemic, we have been trying for MONTHS to get in contact with an actual human being about our options for cancelling this reservation, as we are not legally allowed to stay in this property under the restrictions set in place on short term rentals in the state of FL.
