Communicating with them is very hard and takes too long. The cancellation fees are ridiculous! I had two months left in my policy and decided to cancel due to the bad experience, and they charged me $120! Will never do business with them again!

Unfortunately, I had to deal with the National General claims department twice in one year for two freakish things involving my car. One, when my accelerator stuck backing out of a parking space and second one, six weeks ago, I had my car stolen. Six weeks after the car theft, I now have my car back, but the dealership -- which also has service problems -- couldn't repair the broken window. This company acts in bad faith, they accepted my payment then refused to accept completed paperwork. I used the esign tool and mailed physical copies of required documents yet the company acted as though I had not. I would leave a worse rating if I could. Please have Direct auto insurance investigated for fraud.

The adjusters are extremely rude they lowball estimates for damage and even if accidents not your fault they will deem it your fault and raise your rates double what you originally paid.

I was rear-ended nearly ONE YEAR ago by their client. They ignored multiple contacts every week since the car was repaired. They owe thousands of dollars. Over a month ago, the arbitration panel ruled National General's client at fault. They are legally liable for repairs ad my out of pocket expenses. They have again avoided all phone calls from myself and my insurance company. My contact with them has received many voicemails and never returned a single one.

Horrible company. I’m 52 never had a wreck or violation but I’m “high risk” bc of slow credit. They send you cancellation threats before your payment is late and they make your ID card so you can’t access it if your payment is 1 day past due. It’s the bottom of the barrel insurance and I do not recommend them. I can’t believe this company is under the Allstate umbrella. Disgusting.

I couldn’t give no stars, but this company is RIDICULOUS!!!!!! I was rear-ended by one of their clients and now I am made out to be the bad guy! Been over a month and still no check. They let me drive a totaled car and then last minute gave me a rental for less than a week and said it was my problem. I was told I could buy back my car for $400 and then all of a sudden Daniel (the claim adjuster) says it will be over $2000 for a totaled vehicle! this company is cheap insurance but they don't like it when you leave them. i left them and they kept charging me for a extra 2 months and sold my debt to collection. they almost messed up my credit because of that. i tried fighting it but they didn't care. i was forced to pay them. terrible. 1/5

This is a horrible insurance company to work with. Slow response time, lack of communication, and you better have plenty of money to pay for a rental car because they are on a reimburse plan only. So if you’re hit by one of their insured, through no fault of your own, you’re on the hook for the rental until they decide to reimburse you. That should be illegal if you ask me! If you’re not at fault for the wreck, you shouldn’t have to pay anything.
