I wrote in my request for work that it was likely the GFI switch that was causing the disposal to malfunction. This was confirmed by the technician who then said that they could not replace or fix the problem. Ultimately offered a temporary solution. Customer service and communication were excellent though.
If you have time ,shop around for a reasonabley priced plumber.
