Ruby s Diner was established in 1980, after junior-high buddies Doug Cavanaugh and Ralph Kosmides renovated a dilapidated building on the end of Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, Calif. The 1940s-style restaurant, which was located in a former bait shop, became an immediate hit, taking in $600,000 in the first year. In the second year, sales exceeded $1 million. Family ordered and waitress was timely. Had a great turkey delight with a salad. Also had a cinnamon toast crunch shake yummy.
Wonderful Burgers and milk shakes and the service was spot on.Great atmosphere a must place to visit.
Didn't have glassware so I was served in a "to go" cup. If I wanted a to go cup, I would have gone to a drive-thru! They usually have a large crowd on the day of the car cruise night. Therefore, they should plan to have enough clean dishes to meet the need of the crowd. I was sorely disappointed!

Service was great and the food was delicious! We really like it when they have their special days burger and fries for $2.99 can't beat that anywhere!
Service was terrible, took way too long to get our order taken and then when brought out finally, our order of onion rings were cold and looked like some one had stepped on them, our waitress didn't even bother to look over her orders when she brought them out, she did a reorder then proceed to tell us that she had taken the liberty of taking the onion rings off the order TWICE, when we paid bill she proceeded to take two other orders while we were waiting for receipt and our card back , she got a small tip in return, proble... read more
