Haven't heard.... – DJ played songs I haven't heard in sometime. David Sylvian, Tones on Tail, King Crimson..fun night. ..
Just Okay – So I went there last month in search of some good thai food because of the good reviews on this website. The atmosphere of the place is nice and a little swanky, this also means the dining area is kind of dark, so don't expect that good of a look at what you're eating or who you're eating with. The food here was okay, but below par for a thai place. The flavors were a bit too bland and the service was average.
Suprised. – Mellow lounge with DJ and soju bar. Very nice. I've been going to Rambutan for years; never knew this was even there. A SIGN MIGHT HELP!
There are way better options out there! – I rarely write reviews on City Search but decided to really share my 2 cents to this place. This place does not live up to its reputation with the average Thai food and horrible service. The servers or host wait forever to greet you with no smile. They brought our food to another table next to us and didn't even acknowledge us while we witnessed the whole thing. The decor is nice I'll say but the best dish for me was probably the brown rice... I wouldn't suggest to go here if you wan... read more
Listening to a show on KCRW that recommended this place. We live around the corner and never knew it wa there. KCRW DJ's spin on Saturday evenings (Jason Bentley/Metropolis style). GREAT MUSIC. Very nice ambiance. Parking can me a little tricky. Drinks to try - Mosquito Bite (Mojito) or a Hoegarden (Belgium Ale). Food to try - Thai Beef Jerky, Moo Ping (Pork Skewers), Fried Calamari.
Great space. – Amazing little lounge, hidden through a secret door @ RambutanThai. DJ's spin Frudays & Saturdays. Sadly they close at Midnight. High praises otherwise.
Editorial Review – Thai spot offers traditional cuisine complemented by live DJs and a modern decor.
Stylish and Tasty! – I checked out this place on a friend's recommendation, and was not disappointed. The decor is understated and attractive, the food was fresh, Thai spicy (not tourist spicy), and delivered quickly. Their drinks were also great - I had a Mango mojito , which was sweet and refreshing without being girly cocktail sweet, and was served with a spike of sugarcane in it - a nice touch.
Mediocre Thai for high prices – Nice restaurant inside, but the food and prices were disappointing. I ordered the red curry with duck and it was so salty I couldn't even finish it, even after dumping all my rice into it! The prices were high for Thai food ($9-$15 to a plate on average). You can definitely find better places with cheaper prices, better food, and more parking. Their sister restaurant Tuk Tuk is much better.
Rambutan Thai has a 3.9 star rating with 122 reviews.
Rambutan Thai is closed now. It will open at 6:00 p.m.
