Great Food – An all around fine dining experience. The appetisers were great, the creme' brulee' (is that thai?), was great and the beer selection was impressive for an Asian restaurant.
FRANK – We were out with Frank, he's not lying, he liked it. Take it from me, Frank complains about everything. Rambutan was a lot of fun. Excellent Thai Food with a good croud made it a night to remember. Fridays are very crowded, it's Silver Lake so no bling bling goin' on here. My civic still has 16"'s, but it's still phat as hellll. Try the beef jerky and a Singha...you'll love me for it.
Frank Likes it! – Met friends at a birthday party for Maria, "Happy Birthday Maria". I'm Frank, and I'm well known throughout my group of friends for complaining about everything. my complaint about Rambutan is that they've been open for over a year and I;ve never been there before. "I LIVE AROUND THE CORNER". I don't like Asian food all that much, but this was great. Maybe I do like Asian food. Another complaint : Frank needs to get out more.
We've eaten at Mae Ploy for years and finally got turned onto Rambutan in Silver Lake. We called into KLSX 97.1 on the Merrill Schindler's show and asked Merrill where on the eastside could we find authentic Thai fare as well as a nice setting. He mentioned Saladang and Rambutan. We'd been to Saladang but I didn't enjoy the Curry or the rushed service. Rambutan reminds me of a restaurant in Soho. Inviting, great food, good drinks...we'll be back.
Magically Delicious – So much to choose from, and all of it good. I love Citysearch, mainly for opening up my eyes to the wonderful selection of restaurants in Los Angeles. Rambutan is a great dining experience. The food is superb. My wife and I sat at the bar, watched the Olympics, and had appetizer after appetizer after appetizer. The bartender was so sweet and helpful, and the Mosquito Bite (Mohito) was perfect. LOVED IT!
What a great city. Silver Lake offers a better collection of restaurants then anywhere else in Los Angeles. Rambutan is my latest vice. Comfortable booths bookend a New York style eatery. Thai silk fabric adorn the walls and a beautiful 8' hand carved Buddha finishes off one of the better designs I've had the pleasure to share my time with. The food is equally impressive, as well as the servers. Enjoy yourself.
Soju Mohito – 15 different soju cocktails. 20 different beers. A great wine list. 20 items on their tapas menu. We had a great time, excellent service, never hurried, an all around fine dining experience.
Garlic Rice – What a great meal. We started with the straw noodles and the esan sausages. We ordered the pork chop with the spicy chili/lime sauce and the beef waterall. I had a soju Mohito and the wife had a rambutan cosmo. No dessert this time, too stuffed.
Next to Pho Cafe – Pho Cafe was packed next door so we ventured into Rambutan. A beautiful restaurant in a not so beautiful mini-mall. The place was full but there was space at the bar, we ordered cocktails and found the staff as well as the patrons to be anxious to make conversation. Lots of regulars, I actually heard someone at the bar complaining because the place was getting too busy. We were seated within 10 minutes and the food was excellent. Check out their website, it does the retaurant justice.
