Going to starting looking for another vet. Unfortunately I had a payment not go through and instead of sending any courtesy notification to let me know and give me the opportunity to fix it they just waited a whole week so they could get an extra fee tacked on. That is trash of a move especially given how crazy expensive everything has become and I can't trust a business that cares so little for the people behind the pets. Disappointed and done.

We had to take our 15 year old German Shepard in to the vca Asher in Redding ca for euthanasia. It was a very hard thing to do but the staff were the most caring and considerate people and made a terrible experience bareable. They explained everything and there was no rush. The tech and doctor were the best. I would definitely recommend them

I called at 8 AM my dogs stomach was extended I thought it was bloat which can kill an animal in a matter of hours. The office gal was rushed and said to bring the dog in immediately, I told her I would not even consider coming in unless they had a surgeon present, I made that very clear to her. I arrived at 8:50 AM I clearly asked if they had a surgeon there upon arrival and they said the surgeon comes in at 8:30AM. They should have been there by my arrival however the surgeon was not there, the surgeon eventually showed up ... read more

I cannot in good conscience suggest that anyone take their pet to the VCA hospital at 9901 Montgomery NE, Albuquerque NM, if it is an emergency. We had noticed that our dog was drinking an inordinate amount of water and losing weight. I took him into VCA on 9/2 but they refused to see him because his condition was not "critical"; I was assured that he would be OK to wait until the appointment I already had scheduled for him with his regular vet three weeks out. On the evening of Labor Day his weight loss had worsened, he had... read more

This is a SCAM OPERATION. My 15 lb. Dog was referred to a neurologist at VCA Oakville Mississauga, ON Canada. She was walking wobbly and was in pain...my own vet suspected a stroke or disc problem. At VCA Oakville, we were NOT ALLOWED to be with her during exam. RED FLAG. Then, we had to pay 5K for MRI. Told she had a "slipped disc". She'd need surgery immediately. Must pay ANOTHER 5k surgery. RED FLAG. Was called at home hours later saying surgery "went well". Minutes later, another call informing us our dog "has had a hear... read more

Was a great Vet Clinic/hospital before VCA took it over. Can't get in for routine appointments, so can't refill prescriptions. Very long waits to just get an appt for vaccines. Most of the issues seem to be because of the disorganized front desk. Seem to have a lot of staff turnover. Prices have gone way up.

A couple of years ago my little dog Cooper became very ill. I took him to a Vet in South Calgary. They x-rayed him and it showed that he many bladder stones, and one had slipped into his urethra, causing him severe discomfort. The vet did a procedure to try to remove the lodged stone but it did not work. The vet told me of a surgical procedure called a Scrotal Urethrostomy. The vet said that the VCA Animal Hospital had qualified surgeons that could do such surgery. The vet called VCA and I quickly drove my dog over to their ... read more

My local vet was taken over by VCA a few years ago and I cannot stress enough how overpriced they are. It's absolutely ridiculous they insist on charging me 130.00 each time I need my tiny dogs anal glands expressed, which is probably every 6 weeks or so. They claim their fee includes a mandatory "exam fee" which is ridiculous because my healthy dog doesn't need a full examination 8-9 times a year. Come on, really?! I paid it the first 2 times but to charge so much for something that shouldn't be more than maybe 50 bucks a p... read more

I have been bringing my dogs to VCA since 2019 and have never denied my dogs any test or procedures they have recommended. When I decided my elderly dog who has had gastrointestinal issues for 15 years and now had canine cognitive disorder had enough with test and procedures which stressed him out greatly and never gave a definitive answer on what was causing his symptoms. After another traumatic night of him crying and pacing, completely frightened, lost, confused and not sleeping or eating I had come to the decision to end... read more
