On 11/24/22, I took my pup to the ER of VCA Animal Hospital of Shelton CT. I'll make my review very short. My pup die in their care. Some care. They couldn't care less, that my life has been turned upside down. I can't sleep, I can't work, all I do is cry and scream in pain. My boy should be with me right now, but I can only stare at his ashes. That hospital is awful, I am not going to rest until my pup gets the justice he deserves. I took my dog here who was suffering from an infection and he was hospitalized due to hemorrhaging and VCA was unable to give my dog oral medicine which I had to go in and do so. Not only that but the wait times were outrageous and one of the hospitals doctors indirectly told me the following day to put my dog down or continue to pay thousands more dollars in order to save his life. SInce VCA has owned Veterinary Associates of Cape Cod it has been a miserable experience. My allergic dog was given a Rabies vaccination that almost killed him. It would seem to me that a policy could be established for sensitive dogs to see what reaction would occur from the vaccines offered. Too lazy for that. Charges for treatment are now exorbitant also but willing to pay for good treatment. Had to move-on.

Do not take your animals here. A lot of hidden cost. The vet will not go over the charges with you before proceeding with anything. Most vet hospital like the ones in Edgewood will go over the charges with you before proceeding with anything. These guys will not evaluate your pet, then provide you with an estimate of costs for treatment, which you then agree or decline.

VCA Three NotchI ***'t understand why I was given a morning appt for a follow up after a weekend emergency visit, only to be called back an hour with their "minds changed," cancelling it and telling me to go to ER again. I've had a lot of concerns with our treatment and charges at our Omaha VCA location. I have gone so far as to contact the Attorney General's office to help with a resolution and the local office was not willing to try and reach an agreement. We were initially quoted $4-6,000 upon admission with prices raising significantly every day until a final total of $16-20,000 was told to us. Shelton CT Location. After only a cursory exam of my pet, the doctor gave me three possibilities of how things could turn out based on the outcome of the test results (that they had yet to run). I expected to sign the standard forms authorizing treatment and another form that I would be responsible for the cost of all treatment. That's not what happened. Very Sad News ***** our Shih Tzu girl passed **** yesterday afternoon around 4pm. I am completely devastated- she and I had a bond unlike anything I've ever known. Her symptoms first started about two weeks ago - shivering - which we thought was from having her coat shortened after grooming and the change to cooler weather. My dog ate something akin to a rock, and it almost killed him, shutting his GI tract down and causing him to have a seizure. Rushed him to the VCA hospital in Kearny Mesa as they are the nearest and only 24/7 facility. They stabilized him and then diagnosed the foreign object in the stomach, which they eventually were able to remove via endoscopy.
