My 9 year old 5 lb. Chihuahua suffers with grand mal seizures and has been dependent on Phenobarbital twice daily since her second birthday. This is a controlled substance only prepared by an outside pharmacy and requires a written prescription. Her life depends on this. Every 21 days I call the pharmacy for her refill. Once the request is sent to VCA the problems begin. Without fail it takes up to 6 times (or more) for me to contact VCA for them to respond with the refil. It's not my job to make sure this is done. Awful company. I'm leaving a review here due to the hospital I used not being listed (4902 E Broadway, Madison, WI XXXXX). My cat had a urinary blockage and required PU surgery. When he first arrived, I was quoted $1500 for his hospitalization. I agreed to this and wasn't told that there would be increased fees. Then, after they continued to put a catheter in and out (again, without telling me the cost), they told me that surgery would be needed. They gave me a high and low end for that, and I agreed. They harassed me for payment the moment I dropped my bird off. He died of cardiac arrest when he was fine that morning. While calling me to inform me they said reviving him would cost more. Are you kidding me? These ppl are sick I'm heart broken and lost my 3yo baby because of neglect. They refused to work till I paid them 800$ up front. They killed my bird and I wish I would have read these reviews before leaving my lil baby here. Blue came to our facility referred by another veterinarian for respiratory distress. He presented to us with labored breathing. He was promptly triaged by two skilled zoomed technicians, evaluated by one of our emergency clinicians while being given oxygen and promptly placed into an oxygen incubator to provide him oxygen supplementation as well as temperature control as these are main priorities with a patient in respiratory distress. HORRIBLE! I called on Tuesday telling the person on the phone that I was referred by Huntley Animal Hospital and that my dog had a tumor on her stomach. I explained that my vet said to monitor it and if it grows I need to get her in and have VCA Animal Hospital take X-rays and perhaps an M.R.I. I explained to the person on the phone that she doesn't appear to be in pain but the tumor is growing. I was told that there are going to be fees associated with the visit. Horrible service . Long wait. Unprepared staff. Ridiculous price. Possibly the worst experience ever had in a veterinary hospital

Horrible they have been trying to fix my dogs nail the last 5 MONTHS. I've brought him back several times easily 500 a trip, and nothing positive has come out of the visits. They run the place like a lockdown prison, you can't talk to the doctor, my dog now shakes when he is in their parking lot and won't even get out of the car when my dog sees a vet, which wasn't the case before precovid he loved going in their and have all the attention in the world. I brought my dog in yesterday because she had been sick for a day and a half. When I got there, they took her in, examined her, gave her back and told me she was fine. I told them she was not fine. But, they sent us home. Today, she started throwing up blood. Again, I got in my car and drove the two hour drive to get her back there-as it's the only animal hospital for miles around that was open weekends. I wish I had read this site before taking my poor fur baby to this place. Everything everyone says is true. They are just out to get money and don't care about the safety and care of their patients. They let my dog suffer for 3 weeks between expensive exams, CT scans and pushing me off for surgeries because they kept taking on more surgeries over my appointments.
