This small, somewhat eccentric café is a local favorite. The décor is certainly part of the café's charm- bright primary colors abound, the thrift store furniture is mismatched; mannequins, dolls and other toys decorate the window sills, walls and even the ceiling. But it's the food that keeps the locals coming back. It's a terrific blend of traditional home cooking and lighter vegetarian fare. The French toast (served all day) is one of the city's treasures.

I normally don't write reviews for places. But this places is fantastic, the food is great, nice size servings, warm to hot, not lukewarm like in fast food places. I took my wife and daughter on Mother's Day to Baltimore and experience what the area as to offer, so we stop at Baltimore museum of art. We ask the lady if you hade to make reservations for the restaurant in the museum and the lady said that they had a waiting list of almost 40 people ahead of us for that days (Sunday). So we talk and we started to look for optio... read more
only my opinion food was good but looking at old toys was better for me
It was our first time and it was packed. The food was excellent. A diamond in the rough!
My partner and I had nachos with chicken and then the Caribbean chicken salad. Awesome.
Not impressed with the obviously hurried, understaffed service. The "$12 per person minimum" noted on the menu was a little weird, especially for breakfast. The tables are so close together that I felt like I was eating community style. Alas, my friend and I did not stay. Fortunately, we found another place close by that was absolutely amazing.
Sylvia Sikora was denied service by the owner of The PaperMoon diner because she was a single female and he wanted to only seat parties of two at the two tops. My friend offered to wait longer but she was denied. I will never step foot in the Papermoon again and I would persuade others to do the same.
Good food and wonderful decor! We will definitely be back to try a milkshake.
It is lonely enough to go brunching by yourself, but then being refused a table just because I am a party of 1 adds acid to the wound. I said that this is discrimination and that it is not a great feeling and thst I don't mind waiting. The owner, who seated customers today, did not even say once that she is sorry. Of course, I left. Went to Hampden to #Five&Dime where I was not only greeted with a smile, but also seated fairly quickly at a table for two.
Business response:
Sylvia - I am very sorry that what I said to you left you feeling upset, hurt, and angry. Our policy has absolutely nothing to do with you being a single person. I am also a single woman - I am mortified that what I said to you caused you to feel like this. Please understand that seating 1 tops at the bar on the weekends is a policy that we have had in the place at the Papermoon Diner for 24 years. This policy has been posted in our menu since it was instituted. As a small restaurant, we have limited seating and our weekend ... read more
I love the food service and decor. It was one of the first places that I dined at when I moved to Baltimore in 2001 and the last place I dined at on my recent return visit to Baltimore
