poor management and overall service – We had looked forward to going to Nostrana for quite awhile and were disappointed by what we found. The the atmosphere was great, but the food was only so-so. While our waiter was wonderful, the same cannot be said of the rest of the wait staff and certainly not the manager. A bus boy grabbed our credit cards without asking for the amounts to be placed on each. Like metal in your food? Try Nostrana... – After hearing rave reviews from family members and friends I thought I would take some out of town guests here for dinner. I called ahead and was told there was a one hour wait but they put my name on the list over the phone so we only had to wait 5 minutes when we got there. Not what we expected – Being voted "Restaurant of the Year" conjures up a pleasurable dining experience. Not the case. Rude and arrogant hostess, curt wait staff, and a confrontational management staff when called on the behavior. Having dined for years in New York, we felt they were trying to emulate some sort of arrogant East Coast vibe. Well, they did, and we won't be back.
Just say no to Nostrana – No service, No manners, No respect for customers, No Ambience, No Management, No recommendation from me, No Strana
inconsistent – Nostrana, on first review, was amazing....everything was wonderful. The next couple visits, however did not live up to expectations. The same menu items were not prepared in the same manner, even the simplest of tossing oil with greens was not executed the same on three seperate visits. The food is done very well, but I love a dish once then I hope to love it again, and I didn't. P.S. The steak grill needs to be cleaned
Over Priced!! – For someone who doesn't make it out much I was looking forward to a night out the friends in a restaurant that was friendly and good. Nostrana's has neither. The hostess was incredible short and didn't seem to like her job much. Then when I ordered a pasta dish I thought there had to be some mistake. Didn't Even Eat There!! – Because of the Oregonian's review on this place, I wanted to try it out. So, my wife and I walked in and asked to see a menu before being seeted. The waiter was very rude. As he did not say anything, he walked about 10 feet away, picked up a piece of paper, staired out to all the other people, remembered about my request for the menu, and walked back to us. My new favorite restaurant!! – After reading rave reviews for Nostrana in the Oregonian and New York Times my husband, 2 daughters and I decided to give it a try for dinner last night. This is definitely my new favorite restaurant!! We were greeted by not only some amazing floral arrangements but by a very efficient hostess who was able to seat us right away. Below average and overpriced – The service and parking were good. The gnocci was mushy and unpalatable. I had to send it back. My friend scarfed hers down only because she was starving. The pizza was limp and tasteless. What happened? When they opened, it was average. Now, I can't imagine going back. If you want excellent pizza and pasta, head to Hot Lips and the Italian Joint on Hawthorne. Unless you're more interested in a trendy atmosphere than food.
