About this business

Standing a little away from Portland's bustling city center, Nostrana serves up honest regional Italian fare in a warm and welcoming setting. The restaurant's outdoor facade is fairly simple. Step in, and you'll be pleasantly surprised at what they've done with the place. Clean lines, lots of woods, ceiling mounted fans, large decorative plants and some great lighting choices give the place, a very charming feel. Choose from a limited, but well-crafted menu of regional Italian specialties made using the freshest local, seaso... read more

Ok, but the chefs should take a trip to Italy more often – I'm between two and three stars.. I'm Italian and my judgment is purely base upon my knowledge of Italian food as it's cooked over there. We ordered zucchini flowers for appetizer, it was good but definetly not worth whatever we payed for it, we got 3 flowers on a plate breaded in what looked and tasted more like a Chinese batter then an Italian one. The carpaccio was good but the meat was cut way too thick. The espresso was too 'short' and burned, the crostata with ... read more

Elf Food – Friendly service. Unclear menu - it is hard to determine where the appetizers are, what is considered an entree - fancy names with no descriptions. I am an experienced restaurant-goer and the menu seemed pretentious to me. The salad mista - their house salad - was served with a bottle of olive oil and a bottle of vinegar, and bowls of salt and pepper. I would prefer a light, chef crafted vinaigrette to the self-serve concept. It's hard to get a completely balanced mouthful of salad. My ravioli left me starving. Th... read more

Overpriced! – Belmont ain't NW or the Pearl, keep it real! The food was ok, I think i paid $14 for a small pizza with just sauce on it. Granted, it was cooked in a fancy wood stove but was it worth it? nope.

Yes, Overpriced! – I usually think the food is quite good at Nostrana. Tonight I was disappointed. Under "Fish Fridays" they had "Pan-fried Razor Clams". Note the plural on the clams. The dish was advertised as clamS with an orange/fennel salad for $15. I am perfectly happy with a small dish and with a dish that does not include potatoes or rice as a cheap filler. However, I was shocked when my plate arrived with a small clump of orange salad and one fried clam. For $15. It was tasty, but I couldn't get over the distinct fee... read more

Love the atmosphere. – Great place - high ceilings, wood-fired oven. This place just feels cozy. But the pizza was very "Eh?" if you know what I mean. I like my thin crust pizza crunchy, not flimsy and wet. Next time I will try something else!

pizza is really good, the duck confit was not – three of us had dinner recently and i came away not so impressed. it wasn't full as it was a monday night so the noise level wasn't to bad. we didn't have reservations but were seated promptly and the service was good. i could see if it was packed it would be another one of those places where yelling is mandatory. my wife and daughter ordered pizzas and i ordered the duck confit, based on the servers recommendations, and was very disappointed. it was served on a bed of lentils ... read more

STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – HORRIBLE FOOD. Sooooooo overated I don't even know where to begin. I heard the owner likes to write good reviews so beware. This info came from a very good source. Just trying to save you money and time. It would take too long to type why you shouldn't go here. The food is bad and so is the loud ambience. Here are some suggestions on great places to dine. Mama Mia's, 3 Doors Down, and Basta's to name a few. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

A place to try – I was aprehensive about trying Nostrana beacuse of all the negative comments, but I am glad I went! There was three adults and one 4 year old, which was completly fine, as there was a huge party right near us with at least three more kids. We started off with the white bean tuna app. and a pizza. The white bean appetizer was delicious and the portion size was more than enough for all of us. The clam pasta and the fall ravioli that we had for our entrees were amazing as well. Our water glasses were never empt... read more
