I will ABSOILUTELY NOT go to UNC for my health care - MOSTLY because when I am trying to read something on the internet your advertisement won't allow me to read an entire scentence without covering it up...then I click off ad and read 1/2 scentence and it pops up AGAIN...THIS IS AGGRIVATING ESPECIALLY AFTER A VERY DIFFICULT DAY AT WORK but it keeps coming up and I truly hate the disruption to my reading!!!!
UNC Health Care charged me $4786.00 for a CT scan that I could have gotten at the Durham Diagnostic Imaging Clinic for $460.00. The only explanation I can get out of the UNC Health people is that hospitals have "overhead" that clinics do not. Yeah right! Over 10 times the "overhead?" They call it "overhead." I call it "greed." Unless I'm a couple minutes away from dying, I will never set foot in another UNC Health Care facility.
I think UNC health care could improve by not breaking hippa laws. As I laid in a room with 5 other patients being separated by a curtain only for 3 hours, i could tell you what the diagnoses for the patient to the left of me and the patient to the right of me. I can also tell you what their options were as far as treatment goes. This violates hippa to the max!

As a self-pay patient I have to pay up front before being seen at urgent care. That’s understandable, but when I pay $88 up front at Fletcher Pardee Urgent Care just to receive a prescription for steroids to treat a poison ivy reaction, I don’t expect to receive a bill in the mail 3 months later for extra. Extra for what? Good question. The urgent care MD looked at my rash, said “yep that’s poison ivy” wrote me a script and sent me on my way. That’s it. I had surgery on my top and lower jaws Wednesday August 7th. I have been planning the surgery for almost 2 years, working with insurance and work... i finally had it done. I could not have ever asked for a better surgeon or team. Dr. Turveys Team!! Way to go! But once I got out of recovery after surgery, the staff put me on the sixth floor. I like the UNC Health Care as they have good service to take care of you; however, my only issue is the costs that you all charge for the ER. We had to take my son to the ER because he was in car wreck and he need to be checked out. Well, after taking his blood pressure, height, weight and then a few minute visual look over by the PA, he was released, total bill was $500 just for the triage of his height weight and blood pressure (this was also per the billing department when I called).
