Twenty years ago, this European-style restaurant was filled with the warehouse workers from the area. Today, The Monte is still packed, but the clientèle has more white collars than blue. The copper bar is 50 feet long; it is worth the visit just to see it. The menu is big on American fare, with burgers, salads and deli-style sandwiches. it was our first time here, and was one of the best dinners we have been out for in a while. The service was great and the staff was friendly and attentive. Our food was fresh and tasted amazing. My husband had the filet mignon and said it melted in his mouth. I had the seafood fettuccini, and the seafood was all perfectly cooked. We both shared the calamari for an appetizer and enjoyed the grasshoppers.
This was my first visit in many years. It was just as I remembered. Fabulous atmosphere, excellent service and the food was delicious. I would love to go more often but navigating downtown and the recent uptick in violence keeps me out of downtown. 😢

Love love love this restaurant. The atmosphere reminds me of a restaurant out of the movies. Their wings are the best and they make a wonderful dirty martini...no vermouth. This place should be on your bucket list.
Went there this evening. Had the most unpleasant experience ever! The waiter decided that one of our party was not sober and would not serve them. Funny thing is, they had not had a drink all night. Manager was just as rude. We left and took our business elsewhere! Never again Monte Carlo! Good luck!
