Twenty years ago, this European-style restaurant was filled with the warehouse workers from the area. Today, The Monte is still packed, but the clientèle has more white collars than blue. The copper bar is 50 feet long; it is worth the visit just to see it. The menu is big on American fare, with burgers, salads and deli-style sandwiches. Great staff. Excellent wings. Love their liver & onions.
Excellent staff great service! We just stopped by for a glass of wine and world famous wings...It was perfect as always...
Always have to have the chicken wings - they are the closest thing to the King O'Wings' of the late 1970/80s - if you are from Minneapolis, you know. Still the same quality menu that we enjoyed WAY too often in the 1980s. Was heading into a Plaza Burger - but after the wings had no room for anything but a small caesar - with anchovies of course. If you find yourself in the North Loop of Minneapolis - do yourself a favor and check out this institution.
