I moved to Harpers Ferry to be 40 minutes closer to the Martinsburg VAMC, however I recently was misdiagnosed and when I challenged my diagnosis, the medical staff quickly covered each others tail and refused further services to me. So I asked the patient advocate for help, that went nowhere. I filed a complaint with the VA OIG and the White House VA Hotline, hopefully they will investigate for accountability. I also contacted the Washington Post.
Went to the ER for acute gastritis and the staff understood everything I told them about my symptoms. They immediately gave me medicine to relieve the pain I was in and I'm much better afterwards. Not gonna lie, I've heard some horror stories about the VA hospitals but this one blew my expectations away.
Mary, my dear mother in law was cared for two months in the palliative care building of the Martinsburg VA Medical Center with not only the most professional nurses but loving and caring for our dear Mary and the family. My husband has had nothing but EXCELLENT care, attention and efficiency from this VA Center, from appointment scheduling/reminders to walking out of the hospital. Thankfully, his visits have been for routine procedures: colonoscopy, sleep study, and today ENT procedure. We have never been in a more 'cheerful' hospita. I'm very impressed with this place and, especially, with every staff member we encountered there today! Other than the distance from home in Hagerstown, I'm glad my dad can be seen and treated at the VA. He has PTSD and no patience at all, but he was able to move so smoothly through there, and everyone was just wonderful! I couldn't imagine trying to deal with Meritus like this.
If you wanna die, come here. They'll fix you right up.
This may not be the correct way but my boss is getting ready to have knee surgery with Dr Vanbuecken and he is wondering if anyone else has had this done at the VA and how it went
