Always efficient. Takes adequate time to review tests, X-rays, etc. Answers all my questions. My experience over 9 years and two knee surgeries is that his work has been excellent. Also, his staff is always friendly and helpful. Could not be more pleased with this group.
Dr Elkus is very professional and will explain what is wrong. He will also give you the choice to try therapy before surgery which I benefited from after the surgery making the recovery less time.
We have used Dr. Elkus since he began his practice and used his father before that. Known him for many years. Not only is he the best orthopedic surgeon in the Birmingham area he is very compassionate, listens to his patients, very thorough and very easy to talk to. He is like family. His staff is also very friendly and efficient and always willing to help any way they can.
Dr Elkus has been my orthopedic Doctor for over 10 years. He’s very courteous and takes his time listening to my issues. I never feel that he’s in a hurry to go on to his next patient. He has done my Right hip replacement,left knee replacement, has done both my hands ( carpal tunnel surgery) and has recommended a back specialist when I fell and had a compression fracture. My initial visit went well.Dr.Elkus reviewed my xray with me.He made it easy to understand.We discussed surgery which i agreed too.I had excellent results after surgery.I highly recommend Dr.Elkus!He has great listening skills and addresses all of your questions.
Dr. Elkus is the best doctor ever! When I came to him I could barely walk. Every step was so painful I had quit everything that required walking or standing. I had my left knee replaced in August 2024 and the right replaced in December 2024. Aftercare was well thought out and gave me what I needed to get my range of motion back. I can practically run now. Dr. Elkus has performed surgery on both of my shoulders and has done an amazing job. He spends the time needed to find out what is going on and is great at communicating what the problems are and all of the options. He's truly one of the best doctors I've gone too.

Dr Elkus is the best. He did my husbands knee six years ago and it was a breeze. I am eat up with arthritis and my hip was terrible. The procedure went great and my recovery has been really good. We recommend him to everyone who needs a good orthopedic
