I am dealing with a recurrence of breast cancer that is metastasizing to my bones. Dr. Elkus saw a need to brace my right femur. The ORIF surgery was successful and critical to my healing journey. His work in skillful, skillful, skillful! He is a kind, meticulous, perceptive doctor.
Dr. Elkus is fantastic! He takes time to listen to you and your needs, he's an incredible surgeon and very personable. In 2022, I had him replace my left knee. After going to the 'Big Named Sports Place' and getting ZERO response, a friend recommended Dr. Elkus. I couldn't be happier and he did such a magnificent job on my left knee, in 2023 he replaced my right knee. I would recommend him over any other surgeon in Birmingham, he is the best! Dr Elkus and staff took great care of me from initial diagnosis of the shoulder problem to completing surgery and follow-ups. So caring. It was a great experience.
Dr Mark Elkus is a great Doctor. He has genuinely shown me passion to repair my shoulder. My first visit (after reviewing my MRI), he told me he could fix my 2 torn shoulder muscles. I was comforted by the confidence he displayed. He could see I was in pain removing my shirt. After the exam, due to the pain he offered to help me put my shirt back on. Explained everything about my knee replacement in terms I understood. His staff were all friendly, efficient and made me feel that they cared about me as a person. They gave complete instructions for before and after surgery. I followed orders as given and was very pleased with my recovery. I hope not to have the other knee replaced but if I do, I will definitely use Dr Elkus again.
Dr. Mark Elkus has done two hip replacement surgeries on me at St. Vincents. The surgeries have been very beneficial in stopping the pain and improving my mobility. Thanks to these surgeries my quality of life has also been improved and I would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Elkus and his team.
I’ve been under Dr. Elkus’s care for many years. I had injections twice to put off knee replacement as long as I could and was very pleased with those results. My surgery and care afterwards by Dr. Elkus and his staff was exceptional! Two other friends used Dr. Elkus for their surgeries (both have had both knees replaced) and highly recommended him to me maybe 8 years ago. Also love that his office is standalone and don’t have to deal with parking decks, etc.
Great physician and experience. He is very knowledgeable, caring but will give you the facts. I had my first hip replacement eight years ago and when I started having pain in my other hip, I knew where I wanted to return. Both hips very successful and no more pain! I would highly recommend Dr Elkus.
Dr Ellis and staff were awesome! From the first consultation to the post open follow up(hip replacement surgery)they were professional and did an outstanding job. Would recommend to everyone.
