My experience with Loan Depot was more than satisfying. I found working with my contacts there, AJ and then Angela, opened up some doors to financial opportunities I didn't anticipate finding. This process involved an unexpected complication that was overcome, thanks to AJ and Angela's expertise. These contacts were always respectful, professional and positive, and the product they offered was quite attractive.

LoanDepot responded to our initial request for information in a timely manner. We were assisted through the process of gathering all of the documents that were needed for our refinance in a through manner by both our processor and account manager. We were able to close this loan in a shorter time than we initially anticipated. First payment is coming up. We would recommend LoanDepot to others.

Overall a positive experience. There was some confusion coordinating the payoff of an existing FHA loan through Loan Depot and originating the new VA loan. Escrow issues were the source of the problem. The problems were ultimately resolved, but required my intervention. I have used Loan Depot to re-fi a FHA loan and to do this re-writing to switch from FHA to VA and overall my experiences have been positive.

Try to avoid LoanDepot as much as possible. They say supplemental property taxes are the homeowner's responsibility despite collecting escrow to cover that. The supplemental was more than the normal property tax for this first year since the property values were for ~20 years ago vs. what we purchased this year, so the difference is the "supplemental." I had a personal loan with loanDepot and paid it in full when I refinanced my house. Apparently, the company was in the middle of changing companies to handle the accounts, and they sent over information on my account BEFORE the account had been paid off. I have emails proving that they received a check for $9654 and that they posted it on 11/17 and that loanDepot owes me $917 and some change because the check was for more than my account balance. I would highly recommend Loan Depot to people considering a mortgage refinancing. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is that while our rate and terms were to our satisfaction, they were not necessarily the lowest we think we could have gotten. We considered other companies but decided to move on this with Loan Depot because of the good experience we had with them in the initial phase and, more importantly, on the comments we found in several places (including here on the BBB) that showed us how many people had such ... read more

I just finished my refinance with Loan Depot. I am a widow and 70 years old. I know nothing about the loan process or refinancing. I needed someone who would have patience with me and work me through everything. I found that in Alex Vidal my first contact with Loan Depot. He was wonderful! My second contact with Loan Depot was not as good. A young lady who would not return calls and help explain what was going on with my loan. I would not recommend Loan Depot. I have worked with many loan companies over the years and this was by far the slowest and most frustrating company. The initial contact person turned our loan over to a different loan officer. We ended up faxing the same documents two and three times. Days would go by and then they would request the same document again. The only time we got updates was when we would call and email them for progress reports.
