My experience with LoanDepot was amazing! After being denied by the first lender we chose due to an unforeseen circumstance, our lender recommended LoanDepot. They were able to get my loan approved and closed within two weeks, making sure we were able to meet our original closing date. Our loan officer Kaitlyn Linane kept us informed every step of the way and truly made my home buying experience a positive one.
I gave my credit card info to Loan Depot to run a credit report. ($20) I shopped around and eventually selected another lender with better terms. But once Loan Depot had my credit card info, they used it to charge $495 for an appraisal that I never authorized. Now I am trying to recover the $495. Be careful! DON'T GIVE UP YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO TO THEM UNTIL YOU HAVE DECIDED TO SELECT THEM AS YOUR LENDER. Your $20 credit check fee can be included in your loan later, NEVER pay up front.
Full disclosure, I'm an employee at loanDepot. I did just refinance my loan in May/2020. The new system used to assist borrowers is even much better than the system used a few years ago. The internal sales was great. The account manager walked me thru the system also. It was a pretty easy refinance process. There was a hiccup with the closing docs, but they were able to rectify that issue without me having to do any additional info. The closing attorney chosen was also knowledgeable and was very prompt.
