My wife and I purchased a 3-night vacation package at a Washington Nationals game in September 2018. We were told repeatedly by both the sales person and the supervisor that we would stay at a resort property, unless there were no rooms available for our preferred dates/locations. We were also told explicitly that there would be no additional fees besides the $199 purchase price. What can I say, when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. If I could rate Diamond Resorts lower than a One Star I would. Their sales pitch is just that a pitch, they do not hold up to the lies they sell. When we bought in we started with a sampler package then after a year we upgraded our sampler to a full point package plan. This worked out great for the first few years. If I could give Diamond Zero Stars I would: We have been lied to and manipulated by your sales representatives, repeatedly. We are disgusted and fed up with the lies. Diamond Resorts International had a tent set up at the "Great American Ribfest" in Merrimack, NH. After briefly speaking with one of the male sales representatives there, we spun a prize wheel that allowed us "Choice" of their vacation packages. We weren't considering the offer until he told us that they had, quote (and I have a witness), "4 day, 3 night cruises" available with the booking incentive of either "1 additional night or $50 back if I booked within 60 days". On a positive note, the resort was really nice and the staff members, for the most part, were really nice. Had that been my only interaction with the resort, I would have left a very favorable review. Sadly, the negative experiences (Getaway Certificate and Sales Presentation) really overshadowed my positive experiences. I almost gave a 2 star because I think it might be a good program for some people with large families who like to go to resorts and need the discipline to plan and save for vacations. That said, our experiences have been mostly atrocious. We were given a free stay in Sedona and the hotel was sub-standard which they were dismissive about because it was not a property they manage. We went to Maui in April and attended a timeshare presentation. We liked it, but were unable to purchase at the time. Instead, they offered us a 2 year "rental" of the timeshare. We agreed and purchased it. We are in July and I am already regretting this decision! We loved Hawai'i so much that we wanted to try Kauai. There was availability for the week of our honeymoon early August so we booked it. I booked it over the phone with a gal and paid the three hundred dollar hold fee.
