I rented a car from Hertz in early February 2022. I was originally quoted at $62. I dropped the car off on time. But the local office was not open over the weekend. They charged me over $300. I called the local office. They told me it should be only $62, but could not make the changes themselves and I should call the corporate number. When I called the corporate number, the customer service person was obviously working from home. They had very loud music and what sounded like a party going on. So I picked up a rental from Hertz in Orlando. Did everything on line before hand. When I went to my car it was the wrong car I brought that up to the people working. They said don't worry about which I thought was a bit odd but such is life. I drop the car off the next day no issues. After which I see a 30 dollar up charge on my credit card. I call hertz for help and basically get told nothing they can do about it. Unreal that you can sign a contract for a set amount and the company can just change it after the fact.

Renters BEWARE!! I live in Annapolis Maryland and was trying to rent a car from Hertz, as my car was in the shop. I made a reservation on line through AAA and had a confirmation number. The Hertz store wasn't answering the phone. Their phone system wasn't working, so I decided to just show up as I was in a time crunch. I rented a car from a Hertz outlet in Kirkland, WA 11709 124th NE Kirkland, WA 98034) from April 4 - 9. On April 9, 2022 I misplaced the key. Tried to call the rental agency but kept getting routed to a National number. Tried national customer service but no one ever picked up. Same routine on Sunday. On Monday I had to fly back to Detroit and, after three hours of trying I finally got someone at Hertz National. Pre-paid for a 4 day rental in Maui. A Nissan Altima that cost $815. Later that day I found the receipt for the last driver. He had turned in the car 4 hours earlier, had the car for 7 days, and paid $290. Shocked, I went to the hertz app to check prices. I found if I rented that day I would have paid $500. I called the manager who said I'd agreed to a contract and had no recourse and would not budge on price. Worst rental company out there, landed in Salt Lake City and my group was left stranded for hours before we rented a different car from AVIS. We later found out that the attendant that night was sleeping in the back and that's why we weren't able to get our car. I spoke to the manager on site at Hertz after I returned the car to Avis and the manager at Hertz stated that nothing will be done and I am just wasting my time trying to get in touch with anyone to correct this for future customers! Hertz is the worst. I rented a car in Atlanta and it was supposed to be $66/day for two days. I went online to see how much it would be to extend by one day and it said $60. I extended it and AFTER I returned the car they changed the rate for all three days to $153/day and when talking to customer service they said I didn't follow the rental contract so the rate can change at any time... I would not recommend ever renting from Hertz. They will rob you.

Id leave a 0 star if I could. I made a reservation at the Hertz in San Rafael about 4 days in advance for my boss. He needed a large car to take his business associates to and from the airport. When my employer got to the office to pick up the car in the morning, not only was the promised car not there, there was no car available whatsoever. This should never happen.

Rented a car through Hertz website and paid in full. Got to Salt Lake City Utah, and was told I needed a major credit card to put a $500 deposit down. I did not have a major credit card with me, and was denied a car. I had a debit card with me linked directly to my bank account...no dice I also had a two and four year old children with me who had never flown on an airplane before, so you can imagine the stress I was already going through.
