I have rented cars from Hertz for 20+ years and while customer service has been declining for a while, this is the worst experience I have ever had! A normally high rental cost around $60/day was escalated to appx. $325/day creating a bill in the thousands for a car that was older and smelled of smoke. I was billed for gas regardless of the fact I had already filled the tank. I am angry with Hertz for 2 reasons. One, I was told the price was $547.45, but I was billed $566.12. Small money, but still an extra charge. Two it appears there is almost no way to contact Hertz to address the issue. Customer service options don't work and trying to find a place to email the complaint doesn't seem to exist. Way too difficult to address the issue.

Leaving a 1, because 0 is not an option. Reserved a Cargo Van from Hertz in Waterford, MI to move my son home from college. An extremely rude person from Hertz called less than 24 hours before we were to pick it up to tell us the van was not available, I booked a month ago. She did not have any alternatives and hung up on me. My husband drove to the Hertz location and she told him there was nothing they could do and was not only inept at her job, equally rude to him. Stay away!!

Double check your reservation agreement and the slip they hand you at the desk during pick-up. I rented a minivan at the MCO airport. 5 day rental originally reserved at $799.62. When I picked up the car I wasn't asked any questions related to changes and was handed the rental envelope and on may way just like the many experiences before. I then get a bill for 2442.49. ABSOLUTELY one of the worst customer service departments EVER! Within 10 hours of leaving my wallet in a rental car, I began a journey to contact customer service, lost and found and customer retention. I have left 4 emails, 2 voice mails and called at least 20 times. I was told by an agent at O'hare that I the Norfolk Hertz would check the vehicle and call me back. I've gone through the proper procedure of filing a claim and have checked the "found items" list on the website DAILY! That list has not change since April 15th.... read more

This is for hertz located in Union St. Brooklyn. It is the worst service I have ever experienced. A guy named Antwan and his manager who refused to give her name. They refused to inspect the car in front of me. They asked me to complete the process and then pick up the car from a street parking which is 7 blocks away. The car was dirty. It smells very bad.

I picked up my rental at Dallas Love. I had booked the vehicle through Priceline and fully paid my bill with Priceline. There was no issue with pick up and drop off, but when I returned home from my trip, I received a hefty bill from Hertz, for many optional insurance coverages which I neither asked for, nor explained about. When I contacted Hertz to complain, they passed me on to the location and after many calls, they promised me a manager will contact me and sort it out, which they never did. Hertz's check-in/return in San Diego was super easy, and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately, I had to return the car early due to a family emergency. Because of the emergency, I had to return the car back to San Diego instead of my planned return to Palmdale. Hertz didn't charge me a dime for the car rental and they were so helpful. They didn't even tell me there was no charge, I found out after I came home and needed to print the receipt.

If I could give no stars, I would. Rented a vehicle from hertz to use for uber. The location i went to was 3332 N San Fernando Road Los Angeles, CA. For the initial rental and the extensions money was pulled from my account each week and was on "hold". Once I returned the vehicle, I was told my charges would be released and I'd get a final charge of the total for the whole rental period.
