Hertz lied. I made a reservation and took an Uber to the airport to pick up the car. When I arrived they told me they had no cars and would not honor the reservation. They did nothing to correct this. I wasted my time and money (2 Uber trips) because a reservation is meaningless to them. I will never use Hertz again.
In Mexico Hertz is the Wertz as in the worst. I made my reservation in the USA on line and paid in full in advance. I did this so I had a guaranteed know price. I denied all coverage since my VISA give me full coverage. The receipt I printed from my online reservation and payment stated that I paid in full. When I got to Mexico Hertz wanted hundreds of dollars more for the car even though I paid in full in advance. Hertz is a rip off.
Just to let you know my experience with my car rental. Jauini (manager here)treated me like dirt and made it sound like I don't know how to drive. She is a lot younger than me. I am turning 60 this year and have been driving since I was 16. I have been driving in northern Ontario, Alberta and Quebec for years(I live north of Ottawa). I reserved a minivan at the Salvatierra location in Loreto, Mexico. No van was available, so I had to pay much more for a Suburban. When the vehicle reserved is not available, Hertz should give a FREE upgrade. I did not get a free upgrade. My reservation was for $1408.80/35 days = $40.25/day. The upgrade, (not including the added liability insurance), was $1555.94/30 days = $51.86/day. This was an increase of $348.30 including $110 + t$22.75 taxes on the pre-paid gas. Hertz is the WORST car rental place. I had to make numerous calls to get an extension and was not able to make the extension online. I then tried to pay for the extension and was using a different credit card and was told we have to use the same card as when we placed and have to so a whole new contract again. We are 400 miles away from where we got the vehicle and they will not take a payment v over the phone. I will never rent a car from them again.

The employee I dealt with for a long term rental insisted on doing all business via text....and then stopped answering me. Landing me with $900 in fees for not knowing their company policies as they were not explained to me by their employee. Turns out that his office was closed because it was condemned, information that he didn't seem to think was necessary for me to have.
I rented a car through Hertz Birmingham Airport on Sunday (2/27). No issues with the employees at the location, they were great. BUT when I needed to extend the rental an extra day, my problems began. I tried to use the app like they "suggest" and it told me that they would be charging my card an additional $514 for ONE day. Hertz is a HUGE Scam! Go with any other company. Worst experience in my life. I rented a car from Sep.7 to Oct. 4 and DENIED all roadside service, along with the road protection. I noticed at the front desk, The guy added the services, and I kept telling him I don't want it, and he mentioned when you drop off the car it will be removed. VERY WRONG.
