Possibly the worst customer service ever. I rented a car on 6/25 and prepaid. Decided to add on gas, so my total bill was $39.19 because I had prepaid for the car. I returned the car on 6/29 as per my agreement at 7:58 in the morning. This was in a parking garage and there was no attendant on duty that early, so I left the keys in the express key drop box as noted on the website if someone wasn't on duty or it was outside of business ours. I had rented a car about 3-weeks ago. Then I got a call saying I had hit an animal and they wanted money. I figured this was a mistake as I hadn't had any accident and it seemed like they were just trying to get me to pay them some money. It seemed a bit suspicious since there was nobody staffing the returns area, but 3-weeks later they called and wanted money and within 9-minutes of calling they were threatening collections. This company is a pain in the arse. First they didnt have the vehicle i rented, had to take a smaller vehicle. Then you cant pay with cash, i understand having one on file but you also have to leave a 200 dollar deposit for credit cards and 500 for debit cards, CRAZY! Then the car was dirty and smelled like cigars and was on empty **. While on our trip the tire blew out took 4 hours out of our long drive to change the tire, wait on hold for an hour and drive to another location to swap to another vehicle to finish our trip. ... read more
I received a letter stating that during the time I rented vehicle from Hertz in Macon. GA on *************. the assigned to me sustained damage. I had date stamped pictures of the vehicle I rented from Hertz that I took before leaving the lot. The Car Rental Agent went outside to look at the vehicle before I even got up to go outside to view the vehicle with her. So we originally rented a Ford Escape from the Parkview dr location that had terrible brakes. We then came to this location to get a new vehicle. Two and a half hours into our trip the vehicle stopped accelerating, started smoking, and then shut off. We checked the oil, and there was literally ZERO oil in the vehicle. We were rented a vehicle that had absolutely no oil in it. Isn't checking fluids a mandatory part of daily tasks? So I'm going to give Hertz ONE star due to the fact of the PHX Airport facility...otherwise they'd get none! I run a Tow Truck and was called by our Highway Patrol to respond to a disabled vehicle on Interstate 8....MILES upon MILES of nothing but desert in any direction. Arrived on 7/3. I have been a gold member for 21 years. I went to the Gold board to see where my car was and upon noticing my name was not on it I returned to the "GOLD Member" counter. That's where I encountered *******. Without asking for any information, he told me I am not a GOLD Member and to get in another line. I don't even want to leave them one star because they don't deserve it. Raked me and my wife over the coals after our honeymoon, our flight was cancelled and I had to get back to Pittsburgh PA from Newark NJ before work the next day. We were forced to rent a car under our circumstances and they knew they had us. Guy in front of us payed a 1/3 of what we did as he had a "reservation" and was returning the car to that same location in a couple of days. Long story short: Had a reservation at Orange County Airport, long line. After 30 minutes in line, Hertz person comes out and says 2 hour wait; no more cars. Blames everything on COVID and lack of personnel. Horrible service and terrible communication. BTW, other car rental agencies experiencing the same thing at OC Airport.
