I just tried to rent a vehicle, Expedition Max, a Yukon XL or a 12 passenger van from our local Hertz location at the Helena, Montana Airport. I originally called on Saturday. The female at the location told me that she would have her manager call me first thing Monday morning ( this morning) to talk to me about rates and availability due to that she was new and didn't know. Charged an additional $300 for "Vehicle Damage (Smoking)... I am not a smoker and NEVER have been. When receiving the car it was dirty and smelled to me like food had been sitting in the car for some time. I took the vehicle to be cleaned at a local car wash and a lighter and mcdonalds wrapper were found under the passenger seat of the vehicle. Hertz closed an airport location in Appleton WI without notifying customers with reservations. All other rental companies were out of cars by the time I arrived. Lost 1/2 a day trying to find a car within 30 miles and had to pay 4x my normal rate. Not a great way to treat a long time Presidents Circle customer. Have reached out several times to customer service for an explanation without a response... Unacceptable, Hertz... be better.

The car they gave me smelled like smoke and it broke down after one use and had to be towed. After spending a total of ten hours navigating their call centers, I was told that according to their policy, they could not give me a refund because the customer is liable for the first five days regardless of the state of the vehicle. I can't believe they are still in business.

rented a car 2 weeks ago reservation was confirmed when I arrived to pick up my rental i was notified that im on the do not rent list! after taking a **** an hour to get to the rental place to pick up my rental i then had to get another **** home! i eventually got a rental from another company! the reason for the do not rent was because of an accident that we were not at fault on AND my insurance was covering anything the at fault drivers insurance wouldnt have covered This is a joke! Unfortunately to get to leave a comment you have to give at least 1 star. The Hertz customer service is a zero star. I canceled a reservation on line through Hertz.com. I never received a cancelation email. I could no longer access the reservation (hopefully because it was successfully canceled). I continued to receive text notifications about the reservation. We rented a car from Hertz while in from Florida visiting East St Louis and ended up having a flat tire and was stranded in an unfamiliar area. NO SPARE TIRE WAS IN TRUNK & took over an hour to get roadside assistance on phone. Were informed that tow truck driver does not bring a spare, so car would have to be towed to the airport. We were given the option to end contract early rather than go thru trouble of getting ride to airport to pick up another car, then turn around and return it at 6am (by this time is was 10pm). Took 4 months to send me a refund on a car I wasn't able to rent at pick up. Only to charge my card AGAIN 15 DAYS LATER WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION. Just spent another hour on the phone for them to tell me their sorry and they will send it to who the **** knows to see IF they can credit my card AGAIN. HORRIBLE! I can't even use my bank card cause they TOOK OUT AGAIN!
