Hertz let us reserve a car days in advance and when we got there kept my wife in line wanting tons of info that was none of their business including our safe travels account as we fly in Kona Hawaii 2 weeks before. We had to jump thru hoops just to get onto the island I wasn't aware our medical info was any of Hertz business. Then they would not rent us the car with the same card we put into the rental app a week before and had also used to rent 2 cars with budget and Turo no prob.Both were easy excellent companies nice peop... read more

I have been getting automated messages from this company on my phone regarding a rental that I do not have. I have not rented a car period. When I try to call them to ask to have my phone number removed from their records I get no answer. I attempted several phone numbers on their website with no success. it is terrible customer service to initiate an automated call with no way to contact them. BEWARE!!! Counter agents are adding additional coverages, such as premium road service to your contract even if you verbally decline them. YOU MUST REVIEW YOUR CONTRACT BEFORE LEAVING THE COUNTER. If you don't review it and you find out only after the rental is complete, their "Customer Care" center will happily tell you no, they will not refund these charges (an extra $120 in my case), and "you should have read your contract". On 8/16/2021, I rented a Nissan Murano through my car insurance company, State Farm, using an approved claim for car rental. on 8/30/2021 I had to return the vehicle due to dysfunctional WiFi charger and a crack on the lower right side of the wind shield. The late fee charge is completely predatory! We arrived early for our reservation and were accommodated. We extended our reservation for one day but the representative never told us when the car was due by or how much each hour would cost us. We paid nearly $400 for a 2 hour late fee, this was more than the cost of one day renting the car. There were plenty of cars available. Hertz is so strict about its policies and there is nothing you can do about it. This company is definitely a scam. They just overcharger me terribly. I paid ahead of time, but when I went to pick up my car, it didn't exist. I showed them my contract and they provided me with a different car at a higher price. They were likely taking advantage of me, knowing I would have to pay or be out of luck within the 5 min when they were about to close. WORSE car rental company out there! I upgraded to a "luxury" car when I arrived at MSP airport. The upgrade was an additional $75/day but I was on vacation and headed to Northern Minnesota and approved the charge. The car was a piece of ****! The key fob battery was low - couldn't use the fob to lock the car. They cancelled my reservation two days before with not so much as a sorry. We had arranged to have someone fly to meet us and make a trip and they lost the cost of their flight. Their customer service agents lied to me saying their manager was in a "meeting" on two separate occasions. A company whose corporate structure shows the lack of integrity and commitment they have to their customers.
