Very poorly run company. I rented a car in Pensacola on May 9th and returned on May 10th in north Alabama. During my October credit card billing cycle I finally saw the charges which were three times the agreed amount. My credit card company had blocked the majority of the charges which came to almost 7000 dollars because Hertz said I had the vehicle for 25 days. They sent my account to a collection service. Hertz/Thrifty Rental Absolute nightmare experience. When we arrived at the airport to pick up the vehicle, (Fort Myers) of course they didn't have it available so they gave us 2 vehicles instead. During our trip one of the cars (Chevrolet Impala) started having troubles starting so of course on the day we were to head to the airport the car would not start. I called road side assistance from our agreement and they said they would come out and get the car. No one seemed to care that we had to find a new way to the airport.... read more
Sure seems like a SCAM!!!!! Hertz snuck in a $4.99 per day charge for road side assistance. Beware! Shame on me for not catching that Hertz, without my asking, added road a side assistance charge of $4.99 a day to my contract. I have AAA! I don't need Hertz over priced "insurance". Smarmy
My name is ***** ****, I picked up a car on Monday November 15th and returned Friday November 19th. I had made a reservation on line for a car for Monday the 15th as my car was going into the shop for repair. Looking for the best price I saw what is called the managers special. My daughter booked a car in her name for me in Southfield, Michigan located on Telegraph Rd, I have been renting with this company for over 20 years and when I went to picked up the rental the lady did not know what she was doing so a guy had to help her. I asked her to put the rental in my name and gave her my License and credit card, she never changed the name. I asked her about an advertisement I had from AAA stating with Hertz I can get an additional driver free and there was another ad that states no charge for drivers... read more
0 stars. I was traveling to Mexico and reserved a car online at Hertz.com. The confirmation email said the total amount to be paid at the time of rental was $331 and some cents. When I arrived in Cancun, the Hertz staffer said my total was going to be $1,600! He said there was going to be a $800 deposit (never mentioned in my online reservation) and then the additional $800 was for the 8 days car rental and required insurance that I had to purchase. Extortionists! If I could give less than one star I would. Do yourself a favor and pay a little bit more elsewhere it will save you an extreme amount of hassle. They wanted to charge me an additional $1400 to add one day of rental. Never again will I rent from Hertz!
Worst experience! Car was filthy, full of dog hair and if you were in the back seat it stunk. Originally rented for 2 weeks and when asked for an extension was charged 50% higher rate without telling me until I returned the car. When contacted head office was told there was nothing they could do. NEVER use Hertz!
If I could leave a minus star I would. I rented a car thru Hertz recently and submitted that I would be an hour later than the expected return time. Hertz charged be an ENTIRE extra day rental for bringing the car back an hour later than the expected return time. I filed a complaint and the refunded $27 of the $100 extra charge. I find this an EXTEREMELY BAD business Practice. I WILL NEVER rent from them again and I would caution anyone from renting from them going forward.
