We rented a Nissan Rogue from Hertz Beltline location in Mobile, Alabama on a Friday evening about 4:30pm, returning the following Monday. We drove the car home and parked it overnight. This is a review about Hertz in general. I was trying to cancel my reservation that I made 20 minutes earlier. Their response was to send me to priceline, but when I go to priceline they tell me I need to talk to Hertz. To make matters even better when I call Hertz their phone system tries to push me back to the internet instead of talking to a human. Nov-2021 While picking up the rental was told that the insurance that I purchased online to cover the car did not show up on their end, even after me showing that everything was paid in full through AAA. Nevertheless, I paid them for the additional insurance which was more than what I had already paid for. I told them that I needed an additional driver on the contract which I was never told that there was a fee for that, so there was another charge. Employees are rude. When you try to contact them about it is impossible to speak to a person. And when you do get to someone they send you right back to their horrible website. If you want to be stuck without a car because their employees decide they just don't want to do their job then, by all means, use Hertz. And they will do absolutely nothing about it. But if you go two counters over to Budget they are nice and friendly and will make sure not to leave you stranded.
My family rented a car from Dollar for use from Sept 4, 2021 to Sept 6, 2021. We picked up the car, a 2018 Chevy Equinox (vin *****************), on Sept 4th. On Sept 5th, the car lost power and would not move. The car was towed the same day. Called Hertz and was promised a refund of our money on 4 different occasions and have not received a penny. This company is worthless.
I rented a car from Hertz through Expedia. It was a nonrefundable rental worth $110.00. I did it through Expedia because it seemed convenient. (Warning: Huge mistake). I ended up extending my trip two days, flying out two days earlier than originally planned, so I wanted to rent the car for an additional two days on the front end. I reserved and paid for my rental via Priceline. At the desk, i was asked if I want to purchase daily insurance for about $40 - which I declined as my credit card offers that for free and Priceline offers it for under $14. The next thing I know is i was charged $39.99 a day for the insurance. I called Hertz Customer service and was told a manager will call me back, I'm still waiting 2 weeks later. Hertz Rental Car: I've had nothing but issues with Hertz Customer Service as well as with the vehicle I rented while on vacation in Arizona. I cannot give you all the detailed information as I had done "numerous times by phone" from July 18 thru approximately August 21, 2021. Hertz trades on its name, but it's a scam. You save money if you pay for your rental ahead of time. So we do. They do not mention that if you cancel that rental, even if you do it in a day, they will keep a healthy "service fee." Also, when you cancel, you get NO CONFIRMATION of cancellation via email, and your cancellation number is exactly the same as your confirmation number. You are effectively at their mercy. I suggest you find another car company, even if this one has the car you want. You just can't trust them.
