WOW!!! Hertz, you've obviously taken your eye off the prize as of late. My poor experience - had to cancel a trip due to health reasons. Canceled 3 days in advance and I'm being charged $100 cancelation fee. Bad, Hertz. Very. Very bad.

Terrible customer service, refused to rent me a car saying my credit wasn't good enough (I checked it two days before vacation and it was over 800). I had prepaid for the week and had to wait a month to get my refund. I wish I would have read the reviews on this company before booking, stay away...

1 review just nowNEW-Edit Spent more than 5hrs trying to get a tire replaced or a replacement vehicle. I called the company and informed them that the tire cap was missing and that I had an issue with the tire. They informed me to put air in the tire. I called the next day for a replacement vehicle no replacement at the time and that I should put air in the tire or take it to the tire shop. Car rental companies are GAUGING the consumer with One way drop off fees that are more than double the cost to rent the car!! This is UNFAIR Business practice !!! Were were charged $800 to drop a car less than 120 miles from orig location when we had to change plans due an unforeseen change in our itinerary - our orig fee was $380 for the week, & a Hertz gold member. DO NOT USE! Terrible experience!!! Both for the pick up and return no one was at the help desk. There is a paper with a number to call so the person can come down from wherever... but the number is busy so you and 5 other people are all waiting and waiting... hoping someone comes to help. Then pray they dont mess up your return location because the customer service is awful. They're scam is that by trying to move the drop off location 14 miles they will up your cost from $72 to now $280... insane! When talking with a represe... read more

I rented a truck through Hertz Corporate at the Myrtle Beach Airport. Prior to my arrival, the Hertz location was sold to a franchise unbeknownst to me. Once I arrived I was denied a truck with a hitch receiver as requested due to the new owners not allowing one way travel. I was on a tight schedule and there were no other rentals available to fit our needs. I rented from this business in June 2021. I received a call from my insurance company that a claim needed my input. Turns out Hertz filed a damage claim in OCTOBER for damage sustained in a rental from Sept-Oct. When I called to question them, they didn't say much just that they would remove the claim. Had I not been persistent, or not an informed consumer they truly could've scammed our insurance. Stay away from this company.

I signed a contract for a compact vehicle. When I arrived at the airport, there were nothing but SUVs available. I told the front desk and they said the equivalent of "suck it up." I needed a gas efficient vehicle because I intended to drive long distances and so I asked again. The clerk offered me a Toyota Corolla that sat in an unknown spot. I decided to take it.
