I had a horrible time with a resolution to customer service, and am posting everywhere to warn individuals about their 'policies'. I returned a rental car to IAH Hertz and was charged $70 for refueling a vehicle I had driven 72 miles during the entire rental period. Vehicles were in good shape but poor customer service experience. I rented a personal vehicle and purchased collision insurance prior. There was a minor bumper accident driving back on the highway and I notified the rental company of the issue. They should have had my personal information, DL, and insurance info from when I rented however months later I get a call from a collection agency asking for payment of the repair damages and having to deal between the Allianz insurance claim and the collection agency. I had a bad experience yesterday at Dallas international Airport as I was trying to extend my rental and return it to my pick up location. The first employee felt annoyed as I was asking too many questions, I don't feel bad for asking what am paying for, I want to know. Absolutely horrendous customer service. First of all, it was extremely difficult to reach a live person. All the prompts were ridiculous. I had to call in multiple times to re-navigate the system to speak to a live person regarding my rental. Secondly, being honest & respectful of others cost me $230. I have rented from every rental car company imaginable and will never again rent with this scam of a company. Renting a car for a single day turned into a $600.00+ bill when the company claimed superficial damage to the hubcap. I always take pictures of my rental before and after returning - there was 0, I say again, 0 evidence of damage to the vehicle. I submitted the pictures, they refused to lift the claim. Do not rent from Hertz. After paying for the rental in advance through Expedia, we were charged hundreds of dollars and received harassing calls and letters. We rented a car for four days and returned it one day early at the same location where we picked up our rental (the Pensacola airport). We even spoke to a Hertz representative who collected the keys. NEVER AGAIN HERTZ. Service up front was nice and efficient. But if you need more than that initial interaction, beware. Our car broke down and we needed a rental. Got it,, tossed our stuff from the broken down car into it. Good. But then,, turns out we needed it for longer, so I tried to extend. After almost 4 hours I gave up. THIS IS HOW HERTZ GETS YOU THERE! My wife and 3 kids broke down in Union City, Ga. and had to have the car towed home. We chose Hertz to rent a car to get home. I made a reservation on the website for the managers special for 1 day 11:30 to 11:30 the next day. When I pick the car up I'm informed they don't have the managers special and I'll be charged a $35 upgrade fee. I have no choice, I'm stranded so we're headed home. Very impolite staff at Hertz office of Renaissance Hotel in DC. You cannot depend on this company, because even if you have pre-paid rental, they might not have a car. Most likely you will not be able to go back home if you reserve a car at Hertz. DON'T RENT CAR FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!
