How is this legal? Received a $50 prepaid card. Went to register online and it ask for all my personal info including my SSN as a required field. Seriously? On top of that it asks you to check a box that signs you up for marketing text messages. Gave them a call. Only got to talk to a machine. Same info required... Entered all 1's for SSN and it actually activated the card but due to bad SSN told me it can't be reloaded or used online. Fine. I bought a green dot card for 50. at Wallgreens and paid 55.95 for it. I sent the info to my son and because his phone number had changed he could never get the money off it. I did 5 or 6 complaints sent in all the receipts and requested info and they responded that there was no money on the card. TOTAL RIPOFF, we never got a penny. NEVER BUY GREEN DOT or be prepared to loose all your money. I would have given them no stars if I could. I have also complained to the Consumer AFFairs to no avail.

This company is so bad that the only two options when you call are to register your card or ask for a refund. They then try to deter you by telling you a refund will take up to two weeks. If you make it past that ridiculous delay threat, they never actually offer you a refund; they transfer you from employee to machine, and then the machine hangs up on you. NEVER BUY THESE CARDS

On 05/06 I was accepted for the greenDot Secured Card and I deposited $200 onto the card. I still have not gotten my card and getting into with someone from green dot is IMPOSSIBLE!!! All of the numbers they have listed will not allow you to speak to someone unless you have a card number but I do not because I have not received my card. ZERO STARS. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CARD. THIS IS A SCAM COMPANY TO GET YOUR PICTURE IDs, SSN, TN, EMAIL, PROBABLY FOR FRAUDULENT PURPOSES. ONCE YOU PURCHASE THE CARD THEY WILL IMMEDIATELY BLOCK ANY MONEY YOU HAVE ON THE CARD AND FORCE YOU TO SUBMIT A PICTURE ID. THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR OTHER CONTACT INFO. ONCE I SENT THE PICTURE ID THEY RELEASED MY REMAINING FUNDS BUT SAID WERE CLOSING MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT EXPLANATION. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CARD FOR ANY REASON. THERE NEEDS TO BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST THIS ABUSE OF POWER.

Green dot bank put a hold in my Girlfriend's retirement allotment and she ended up late on her bills because she couldn't access her own money. It's been over a month and no one will help her. She just gets passed ****** on the phone until someone finally hangs up on her.

I had a very difficult time activating my card. Very inconvenient timing for me. I will not purchase nor reccomend your cards. I have notified the Attorney General in Oklahoma, Consumers Affairs Division, BBB, and Walgreens.
