I called after my last review, was confirmed by an agent that I was booked on economy standard for flight to Iceland including one checked bag. Of course documentation isn’t made available until after we pay in full. Just got to the airport and was informed that I do not in fact get a checked bag because I was booked by gate 1 for economy light. I have been on two Gate 1 trips so far (Iceland & Spain) and both have been flawlessly perfect. Trustworthy company with very knowledgeable and polite staff, made the planning process so much easier. As a young adult, the Independent trip packages are easy on my wallet and I can modify them as I please. All my friends are asking to tag along on my next trip. Highly recommend!
We had a fabulous tour starting with three days in Amsterdam, a fourteen day river cruise on Rhine and Danube to Budapest and a final three days there. Hotels were great, boat and staff fantastic and tours couldn’t have been better. We had so much fun we booked two more tours with Gate 1.
I wish there were more stars to give. Five just doesn't seem like enough. Gate 1 thought of everything and made sure we could just kick back and enjoy. Our tour guide through the Holy Land was Gai and he was absolutely fabulous. His knowledge, his stories and his great sense of fun made this feel more like traveling with family than a group of strangers. In fact, by the end of the trip, none of us were strangers. Toda Gate 1 and Toda Raba Gai, you are sababa!!!!
So far, trip is March, I'm totally frustrated with them. Need to make a change. Gate 1 says Emirates won't allow. Emirates says Gate 1's responsibility. Voicemails are returned. Emails to CEO and VP unanswered. BUYER BEWARE. I will report back if I ever get a satisfactory resolution.
I have taken 9 trips with Gate1. They are the best. I have been on 8 escorted and one independent tour. I have been everywhere from Italy to Equador and have had wonderful experiences and great times. It is more of the world for less. this is a wonderful company. I do tell everyone that I come in contact with about Gate1, so they can travel at a great price as well. Be careful if you use Gate 1 service of booking flights as they don't help you if the airline makes schedule changes and you are left out in the cold. The tours are good, but be careful as they claim they don't have control over the airlines, yet they collect the full airfare at the time of initial booking which you pay directly to them.
Horrible customer service. Then change your flights last minute and then don’t want to help.
Used Gate 1 for visit the Christmas Markets of Germany (Munich, Nuremberg) and Austria (Salzburg and Vienna). Overall Gate 1 delivered a good tour and the services they provided were up flawless. Tour Director was personable, though a little too focused on beer (history and preferences) and maybe a bit more during the bus portions on what we're going to see and suggestions for free time for those who haven't been to the cities visited.
