Just back from South Africa. 2nd trip with Gate 1 and pleased both times. With one minor exception, they've delivered what they said they would. I would definitely travel with them again. Special mention to Tour Guide Dexter Chikerema. He did an exceptional job! Very knowledgeable and accomodating. I had a great time!

Highly disappointed!! Originally booked a trip for three adults and two rooms. Needless to say i needed to cancel my travel. I originally was to be in a room with my husband with father in the other room. Come to find out TODAY without US asking that: 1) there never was going to be enough beds for the three of us ; AND now when I got dropped off they made it into only one room. Great tour through Italy. The Tour Manager, Francesco, was AMAZING!! I felt that we got a good value. The hotels were nice, and the same ones that Trafalgar and Globus were using. Those groups were also visiting the same optional activities (Tuscan dinner; wine tasting) and I would venture to say their tours were more expensive. The only negative for us was that the bus is pretty uncomfortable. You have less room between the seat in front of you than you do on an airplane, if you can imagine that. Don't book your trip with them, unless you want to make your dream trip into a nightmare. Everything is fine when nothing goes wrong about your travel planning (but isn't that's true for any travel agent or if booking by yourself?). If anything, ANYTHING, that you need to change on the trip, no matter it was a month or a couple months before the travel date, it is a NIGHTMARE! I just returned from the 14 day Great Britain tour 4 days ago and had the most wonderful time with some great memories. Gate 1 did an excellent job as always (this is my 3rd Gate 1 trip.) The tour managers were very friendly and knowledgeable. The day tour guides and bus drivers were great as well! Our tour manager went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and gave many little extras along the way. Don't go with Gate1. I scheduled a vacation months in advance, and I had my vacation that was scheduled over Christmas canceled due to not enough people doing it. What is really shady is that they tried to reschedule me to another vacation, that was about $1000 less without giving me the $1000 less price. The only reason why I knew about it is that I tired to book it on the website. They were hoping I wouldn't notice the bait and switch. This is unethical.
Gate 1 travel decided to cancel our Machu Pichu tour a day before our trip. They said sorry but here’s your money. We rather enjoy our once in a lifetime trip that we planned for months. All the time we requested from our jobs is wasted and the money we spent on preparing went down the drain with our dreams. All we get is a lousy sorry. If I wanted to cancel at the last minute, I would be paying a heavy penalty or forfeit my entire money. How fair is that?
