Although he's a surgeon, he's conservative in his approach looking at multiple treatments. He spends as much time as is necessary to convey needed explanations.

Dr. Avery did an excellent surgical repair after I badly broke my ankle and tore two ligaments in a bike accident. He was patient, a good listener and most important a great surgeon.
I’ve seen Dr Avery for several orthopedic issues to include 3 surgeries, 2 separate knee issues and a shoulder. He is calm and caring. He explains things thoroughly. I would and have recommended him highly! He, at times, runs behind BUT I I am happy to wait for him because I know he will give me the same uninterrupted quality time that he gives everyone regardless of their time slot provided by scheduling/appointments.
Dr. Anthony Avery and his team is really very professional, kind and friendly. I was 20 plus minutes late than my appointment time due to bad traffic but Dr. Anthony accepted to see me. He explained my knee condition and everything about my knee in a very good way to understand.
Dr. Avery is competent and caring and I would recommend him highly.
Dr. Avery is thorough, explains conditions that are easy for us laypersons to understand, including using models and drawings to assist in teaching patients about their condition. He explains possible causes of the problem, treatment options, and next steps if the first options don’t work. He is easy to talk to, has a great bedside manner, and treats every patient with worth and respect. He also treated my 9 y/o son’s broken foot in 2015 and remembered him. I broke my upper arm and was taken to the VHC emergency room. Dr. Anthony Avery was the orthopedist on call that day. At the emergency room his bedside manner was calming and reassuring, and he immediately took steps to schedule the necessary surgery. Throughout the months of recovery thereafter, I visited Dr. Avery several times. He continued to be reassuring and always took time to explain what was going on inside my arm. In sum, my experience with Dr. Avery was very positive.
