I am writing this review to inform other about how I was treated when I had to cancel my service with Dish. I had a vacation site that I go to every summer. We contacted Dish to have service connected. After only one week, 2 days of service I had to cancel the service. Unbeknownst to me the property is now going to be sold. I contacted Dish that I would need to cancel service. I asked if there was possibly a grace period on the connection, there was not. i was told when I took out service with this company the rate would not go up for two years. I am several months into service and rate just increased 10 percent. also I called to cancel service and was told hold time was 32 minutes. I hung up . I called a second time and was told hold time was 34 minutes. I held the phone for 40 minutes without getting an answer.

I signed up for service and after 3 months we would have to reload a minimum of one time per day to watch tv. Then we had a service rep come out and "give us new equipment." The problem continued after the new equipment. I just canceled my service and they charged me $186 to terminate service. After spending 20 minutes on the phone with the rep she tried to charge me to return my dish which installed on top of my house. Then she tried to charge me $15 per return box for the equipment. I would like to warn others against using Dish Network. I recently moved and we decided as a family that we no longer needed Dish service. When I called to cancel, it was extremely difficult to get them to finally let me cancel. It took two phone calls, each approximately one hour long. I was told to get my equipment together and wait for a box they were going to send with a shipping label so I could return it. Had been a loyal customer for 20 years when I called for service for not receiving channels. Was going to take almost a month to get someone out to repair. Terrible service. Changed to Directv and they had me up and running in a little over a week. Called to cancel and all the representative at Dish could do was bad mouth Directv the entire conversation. I was on hold for 1 hour.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GET LURED INTO THIS COMPANY WITH PRE-PAID VISA CARDS AS A WAY TO SUBSCRIBE TO THEM! THEY HAVE SO MANY FEES ASSOCIATED AFTER YOU SIGN THE 2 YEAR CONTRACT! THEN THEY TREAT YOU LIKE TRASH AFTER YOU ARE A CUSTOMER. THEY HAVE NO EMPATHY FOR YOU OR YOUR NEEDS AFTER YOU AGREE TO THE CONTRACT! YOU CAN'T EVEN MOVE YOUR CABLE BOXES TO OTHER TV'S THEY HAVE TO DO IT FOR $150 TECHNICIAN VISIT.

I had the same experience. When I moved to my new home I went with another company. I called to cancel DISH service twice. Each time the representative talked me into waiting to see if I liked the new company. My account was put on a nine month hold with a $5.00 monthly fee. Of course after nine months I forgot to call DISH and was surprised when my account was charged $230.00, for a month and a half of service. The equipment is sitting in a box to be returned. I had been a loyal customer of Dish Network for 4 years, my lifestyle changed substantially so that I no longer watch TV. I wanted to Cancel Dish Network and luckily, me trying to do so has allowed me to take the time to write my first BBB review. My wife often forgets to pay the bill on time and usually ends with our service getting disconnected. Then she pays the bill and is told will take 24 hours to restore, which often does. But every so often they don't connect for a week or longer. Which I feel is a punishment for non payment. And when you call they treat like your incompetent and tell you have a history of non payment.
