Disappointing Service – Sadly, despite excellent food and a staff that appeared very well-meaning, our Fathers' Day dinner was a bit of a mess. We were seated 45 minutes late for a 9pm reservation, despite having been assured at 9 and 9:15pm that our table would be available shortly. A long wait is made infinitely worse by poor time estimation or, even worse, straight dishonesty with the customer about the expected time to be seated. Once we'd been seated, the meal and service were excellent, and it was clear that management... read more
Five star pricing, 3 star quality – First of all, while everyone is praising how elegant the restaurant, I have to say that I was totally disappointed. It was a well decorated restaurant, but there is nothing special about it. We went on a Tuesday night and a lot of the food that was on the menu were not available, such as Fra Gra and Tiramisu. Well, the bread was probably the star of the night even though it was nothing special. Then the Antipasti was creative, a bit to the salty side but acceptable (especially the albalone... read more
Not worth it – Presentations were great. One of the best wine lists i've seen. Otherwise, very disappointing. Way too salty with pasta dishes, fish was tasteless....and they whack you for this? Lidia, come on!
Take advantage of restaurant week – While this place is very expensive, if you can get seated in the Enoteca area (near the bar) and it's restaurant week or they are offering the $35 prix fixe, head there. For $35 you get an appetizer, a pasta course, main course, and dessert, all up to the normal high standards of the restaurant. It's one of the best bargains I've found in NY.
Dissapointed – My wife and I ate at Del Posto and both got sick. It took two calls before Alfredo ?manager? call back, he then proceeded to defended his suppliers and refused any responsibility or offered any semblance of customer service. Shame on you Mario Batali, we live in Los Angeles and eat at your LA, Las Vegas and New York restaurants, and while we understand it?s not your fault to have tainted food, we did expected better treatment.
Fabulous – We spent last New Year's with friends here and had such a great time that we decided to do it again. What a mistake. The first sign of what to come was that we had to wait to be seated so we sat in the bar and had a bottle of champagne (the highlight of the night). Once we got to the table we ordered the seven course tasting menu and then everything went downhill from there. The food was not only tepid, but tasteless. Seven courses and one was worse then the next. The main course was a pork sausage that I wouldn't... read more
You get what you pay – I have eaten at Del Posto many times and never been disappointed. The service and food are consistent and impressive. I've never ordered the same thing twice and am thankful because they do everything perfectly. This is a great place to take almost anyone due to the variety on the menu. It's pricey but . . . you get what you pay for honey.
A fine choice for a special occasion – What impressed me at this restaurant most is the service - extremely attentive and polite, always with a smile, ready to help. From the doorman to busboys, everyone was ready to be of service. The atmosphere is elegant, tranquil and luxurious - the open view, marble staircases, high ceiling and tasteful choice of fabrics predispose to relaxed, slow paced dining. The wine list is overwhelming. Do ask the server for a recommendation - ours suggested us excellent wines, just what we descri... read more
great service, great food – I just have to say: great place! it was a spontaneous decison to go there, but i don't regrett it. The food was delicious and i know what i talk about. I ve been in a lot of italian restaurants all over the world (even in toscany and rome) and I have to say they did a really good job in del Posto. The food prices are fair (52 usd for a five cours dinner) and the wines goes from moderate to expensive (but they have a really large selection of wine, I m sure u will find something... me and my cute a... read more
