Amazing birthday dinner – My boyfriend took me here for my birthday last month, and it is the most beautiful restaurant I have ever been to. We had a seat on the second floor, on a balcony over looking the entire restaturant. There was a pianist on the first floor who played for about 30 min during the 1 1/2 hours we were there. While we waited for our table, we had a mai tai from the bar. I am definitey not a drinker, and I have never had one before, but this was so yummy, I had 2! I really had to stop myself from ordering ... read more

Art Deco – This place is gorgeous. Its like stepping back in time, to a classic Hollywood 1940's movie set of a Grand Hotel. Class!! The food is, as always with Mario, incredible. The Slow cooked veal was an experience, but the pastas are the true deal. The portions are actually fairly large, for an app, easy to share one for two. The truffle pasta great. The service was steller, and though very formal, still felt comfortable. Even just to go to the bar for a glass of wine, some that are rather inexpensive, you can take a mo... read more

Awful Attitude – Regarding my experience just now with your policy on reservations and your unbelievable attitude: this has been the most insulting experience I've ever had in any restaurant, anywhere in the world. And I've been to the best in Europe and New York. When you go so far as to insist on a SIGNED CREDIT CARD SLIP, you tell me, in a very unpleasant way, me how much you don't trust me, don't want me , don't like me, don't want me as a customer. You are a restaurant, not the Vatican. Get over yourself.

Offensive, Insulting Service (The Food is Great) – Times says **** I say ???? The food was four star pretty much throughout but the service was abysmal to the point that I wouldn’t go back or even recommend it. We arrived on time for our 8:45 reservation and were directed to wait at the bar as though that were standard operating procedure. When we inquired how long it might be, the maître'd told us a couple of minutes. Given that we didn’t order any drinks and patiently waited for about 10 minutes before approaching the podi... read more

A Memorable Experience – I have never in my life tasted such heavenly food. I have been to many of the other restaurants run by either Mario Batali or Lidia Bastianich, and they are all very, very good. But in my opinion, an evening at Del Posto is a truly memorable event. As if our evening were not spectacular enough, Lidia even came over to our table to say hello. She thanked us for coming! We are still talking about our meal and we were there three weeks ago!

NOT SURE WHAT TO SAY – I THINK MY PROS AND CONS PRETTY MUCH SAYS IT ALL. I WENT, ENJOYED MYSELF (ALTHOUGH IT WAS PROBABLY MORE THE COMPANY), BUT I WOULDN'T PAY FULL PRICE. I'LL WAIT FOR RESTAURANT WEEK

Put down the salt shaker! – My husband and I are fans of Batali and Bastianich’s cooking styles. We both love to eat and can recognize a really special meal when we have it. Sadly, this was not it. We both thought everything we had was over salted. Lobster salad rendered tasteless by too much Fra Diavolo sauce, I had Dover sole that was normally a 50 dollar price tag if ordered ala carte, for what I can only guess were the truffles listed as part of the ingredients that were nearly invisible. He had a lobster that he said wa... read more

How do you make Italian Restaurant Stuffy ? – My mom had heard great things about the restaurant and were excited to try it out. I was highly disappointed in the food. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful and the service was outstanding but the food was not flavorful. I found the restaurant was too stuffy. Who thinks of stuffy and Italian food? I was expecting an enjoyable meal. I had ordered something that had a specific way of eating it. Unfortunately, it didn't enhance the dish or my experience. I can think of hundred... read more

Fabulous Food – This was a most enjoyable evening. We had 9:30 reservation and we did not sit until 10:00 ( it was worth the wait). The service was wonderful and so was the food. Nothing was disappointing about this restaurant. This is what people expect when they go to a fine new york restaurant. Go and enjoy!
