Great New Restaurant – The restaurant is wonderful. The food is excellent, place is beautiful, but the service is suffocating. You can't take your time and enjoy the evening when inexperienced busboys stand over your table and stare at you while waiting to take your plate. We were three people who felt exactly the same. We had the feeling that we should eat quickly and leave. Such an expensive and beautiful restaurant should allow you to dine at your leisure and enjoy your evening. I must say that the dining experience was d... read more

expensive, pay for the real estate and renovations, food was good – I love quality, and don't mind paying for it. Here, i felt that the service was excellent, the place was extraordinarily beautiful, but the food was good, just good. I believe that it's the kind of place you try once for the experience. They were generous with shaving truffles into my dish, and the risotto was fine. Because the entire table has to order the tasting menu and some of our party didn't, I had the waitress order for me. She order me a fava bean s... read more

Great Customer Sevice – OK, I had to try this place cause it's one of Mario Batali's place. The resturant is absolutley gorgeous however I felt like I just entered a museum, there was even a pianist. The food was overall delicious and service is by far the best, (they have a wine specialist to help you pick wines as well). My only cons is that this place is very expensive, the portions are tiny so don't come too hungry and the place is a bit stuffy for my taste. The crowd was also out of my age range 35+. But nevertheless yo... read more

Sit in the Enoteca! – The "Enoteca" is the tables around the bar. You can only make a reservation for this area on the day-of. We had no trouble getting a 7:30 seating on a Friday night. The menu is more limited than in the main dining room, but is an excellent sampling of Del Posto's offerings. The prix fixe in this area is only $41, for appetizer, primi, secondi and dessert. This was more food than I could eat, even though everything was so delicious that I gorged myself. Get the wine pairing with it for $19 more. We thoug... read more

Overpriced Italian – Del Posto is certainly a beautiful restuarant. It has a classic, formal ambiance - piano player in the corner, great decor, etc. However, the food and service just don't live up to the price they charge. I have no problem with eating at a restuarant that is expensive as long as they live up to the prices, which Del Posto does not. The food is good, but not even close to one of the top meals in NYC (even though priced that way). This seems more like an expense account visit, or something for out-of-towner... read more

Great, Classical Ambiance – Definitely a beautiful designed restaurant, the piano playing in the background set the mood. Overall, the service was top notch, the sommelier was amazing. I expected a bit more from the food perspective, my favorite thing was the Spaghetti with Spicy Crab.

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT-AVOID MEAT AND FISH DISHES - PERHAPS PASTA IS GOOD – Pros -great atmosphere (classy, open room, great decor) - great service although they took a while seating us even though i had a reservation - good appetizers Cons APPALLING MAIN COURSES for a restaurant of this price the main courses we had were both completely tastless. My date had chicken and I had cod in case you are thinking of these. Perhaps the pasta is good, and to be fair, the appetizers were very good, but the main courses were incredibly bla... read more

Hurts me to write this – #1 - Batali & Bastianich (Lydia and Joe) are food idols of mine. #2 - Babbo is my favorite restaurant in NYC - food, service and decor are unparallel - it's just a perfect restaurant. This was my 2nd trip to Del Posto. The first time I sat in the main room and had an average meal. This time I sat in the lounge and had a below-average meal. I called (from in from of Babbo, which was packed) and asked if they could acomodate 2 people at 9:45...they said yes, but it was as if they were doing me a big fa... read more
