I have been stopping in Van Horn for over night stays for 20 plus years and eat at Chuy's every time. Their Mexican food does not have the same taste as Mexican food does in Texas or Arizona but it is a very good and I highly recommend it. I personally have always had very good service and will continue eating there everytime I'm in town.
Ate here after a long day at a track meet. Food was good. The overall atmosphere was inviting, and festive, especially with caraoke singing!
Reading some of the other reviews of Chuy's, and no this is not the chain, made us laugh. For us, the food was very good and the service just fine. I ordered the No. 1 platter, everything on the plate was really good. I could have made a meal off of the Chili Verde and tortilla's. The enchilada was different. They call it "flat" because it is folded and not rolled. The taco was good and the gordito was also different but good . It was like it was encased in tamale breading and then fried.
First of all the food was outstanding! I got the Madden Special, my wife got the chicken enchiladas, and they were perfect. My son's steak fajita was excellent as well. Pitchers of beer for $8.99 also cannot be beat...
If you're driving through West Texas and you're hungry stop in Van Horn, for this funky little spot with lots of character and good Tex-mex! Someone sure does love Don Madden here! I had the Asado Plate it was quite tasty!!
This place is funky, there's sport memorabilia everywhere. Pretty cool. We ordered the Madden Special and the chicken enchiladas, both were tasty. The salsa and queso were both very good with a perfect spice kick.
The food was good, service was acceptable. Always a crowd at this restaurant. They have tshirts if you want a souvenir from Van Horn TX.
While traveling to Dallas from Tucson we stopped in Van Horn which is midway between these two cities. There is not much to choose from in the lodging/dining choices within 100 miles either way but you do the best that you can with the help of the Trip Advisor folks. We stumbled upon Chuy's restaurant in the middle of town and were VERY glad that we did. Very good authentic Mexican food. Not Tex Mex. And certainly not what we have to deal with back east. We ate here on New year's day 2003 and have spoken fondly of Chuy's many times. This was the first time we had headed this far west since. We were delighted that they are still going strong.
