This company is a joke and poor customer service. We had a house fire with a large sum of money being sent to them for repairs. They held our money hostage for two months. We finally got a little bit of the check and then two days later they do an inspection and say we don't have 23% complete on the house I said, "how do you expect that much to be done in 2 days." They bought out my loan and they have overcharged me and changed the terms of my loan and added fees since the day they bought it. The amount applied to the principal is never figured correctly. This month alone the amount applied to my principal was $50.00 dollars less than last month even though it was paid on the due date.The amount applied to the principal was less than it was five months ago. . I have had many issues with this company about my mortgage, I was told that my payment went up to over a $100 extra in escrow and it started back in August. I was sent a notice and the next thing i was told my payment was sent back to my bank because Carrington denied my payment and locked out my account. On our mortgage statement under the "Transactions Since Your Last Statement" section I noticed a fee of $35.00 had been charged. The fee explanation read as follows: "Non Recv Exp - Recoverd Paid". I called the customer service number to inquire about the fee. The customer service agent said there was no way for him to look into what the fee was and that I would need to submit a fax inquiry to their Research Department to request an explanation. We get harrassed daily about Streamlining, debt consolidation, etc. They look up relatives' phone numbers when they cant get a hold of you. Peter B*******, called a relative of ours to try and get a hold of us. Have lived at the phone # they searched for in 20 years. We get at least 5 calls everyday. I called customer service and they claim they dont know Peter and the phone # he was calling from. They verified all our info at customer service and didnt have the relative number Peter states they have. I have asked for a year... read more

This is by far the worst mortgage company. They recently increased my mortgage by $330/mo. I have called, sent letters, and they have not provided any documentation as to why the increase was made. The representatives are completely disconnected from the escrow department and have no way to contact anyone in the escrow department. So, basically, each time I've called they cannot help me. NEVER do business with Carrington Mortgage services! Awful business practice! Not a good faith servicing company! They delay sending statements and report your loan in default without notice. They refuse to admit fault for their billing errors. They will not correct their mistakes and will ruin your credit.

Our mortgage was refinanced to this company early this year. The attorney fees were to be included in the refinance, and carrington said "oops" we forgot to wait to include the attorney fees so here's an extra $1200 bill that needs to be paid. We paid our home owners insurance out of pocket upfront $1400 to lesson our monthly mortgage payments and bc we had done so with the prior lender.
