It is not fair that I had to give this company 1 star because they do not deserve it. On October 28, 2020, I was affected by Hurricane Zeta. I had major roof damage along with other damages. I filed an insurance claim and not even a week later, an adjuster came out and assessed the damages. I was issued a check, however, Carrington was listed as a payee. I have had nothing but problems since Chase sold our mortgage to this poor excuse for a mortgage company in September 2020. First, they constantly spammed called my phone and my husbands phone trying to get us to refinance. Second, they triple charged my bank and cause it to over draft twice. One payment was authorized, then they tried to force through 2 more. $60.00 gone! Thank goodness I have a great bank and they reversed the charges. STAY AWAY! If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. 1. CMS wanted to charge me a late fee because because they provided the incorrect P.O. BOX on the website for my payment (approx. Aug 2020). 2. Sent money I specifically identified for my principal to escrow - it took 6 months to be resolved. (Mar- Oct 2020) 3. Random funds was posted to my account and then being retrieved. This is the worst mortgage servicing company I have dealt with. They caused by credit score to plunge by 88 points because for one month I was $92.00 short on my mortgage payment

Poor Communication! This company does not follow through with their commitments to provide appropriate paperwork, changes there policies regarding acquiring the paperwork, and doesn’t inform the client of changes. Best advice- if working with Carrington be like a flea on a dog. Call every day, and assume that whatever they tell you will change, be forgotten, or be ‘corrected’ in the future. This company is greedy and heartless. I have been on time with payments and did a refinance with them. The payments come out of my account automatically. They went up on my payments and said they sent notice but they send so much trash mail for you to refinance again because of the low mortgage rates I did not read it. I was short a couple of hundred dollars and they still wanted to charge me a late fee. I can attest to the misleading "forbearance" offer by Carrington. The company made the 3 month forbearance offer to me in a letter in May, 2020. I accepted that offer for May - July due to a COVID layoff, with the understanding those payments would be added to the end of the loan. Further, there weren't supposed to be any penalties. In August, per what I thought was the agreement, I resumed full monthly mortgage payments. This is the worst company I've ever dealt with by far from day one since chase sold my loan to Carrington mortgage services it's been nothing but a headache from day one I cannot wait to get away from this company I will go to no ends to make sure carrington mortgage services does not get my loan back or any other of my people deal with this company

Carrington is a "Junk" mortgage loan servicer. Poor customer service. Poor accounting. The BBB, protects its "members", rates Carrington @ A+, with over 491+ complaint cases filed against Carrington; and a 1.81/5 Customer Review Rating. The BBB is as incompetent as Carrington Mortgage Service, LLC.
