I recently got a credit card through compass because it offered a 0% interest rate for 12 months and had a large purchase to make. When I went to use the card for the first time on this high, it would not go through. It kept saying chip error etc. Remembering that the promotion also offered a 0% transfer fee, I decided to use my Chase credit card to complete the transaction (which had zero problems letting me complete the transaction). I believe this company is all out for any kind of money they can get. I have been a very good consumer with many companies and have paid my payments on time....however with these people they apparently do not get the payments until later....i have had numerous collection calls when i had set up on auto pay with my checking account. They always tell me it takes time. Its been 4 months. When i do call customer service to see if i am current it is always so busy that it tells me to call back again. When I got my loan with BBVA Compass, I set up recurring payments so the amount I owe each month comes out of my bank account automatically. The first 3 months went fine. The amount came out as it should. Then, last month the payment came out of my account twice! It's almost $400 and I didn't budget for that. I called them and my personal bank and it was corrected pretty quickly. This month it happened again! And this time it isn't being corrected quickly at all! I call this bank to close my account. I was told to fax a letter to them in order to close it. I did that, received nothing back from them. Also when I talked to them I told them to take me off mailing a statement to me. They didn't do that and continue to deduct $3.00 a month out of my account to do so. This has to be the most horrible bank i have ever banked with! Ive never had to deal with fraudulent transactions on any of my accts outside of BBVA. Ive had and have accts at other banks including Wells Fargo, Chase, Capital one, and Bank of America. I decided to open one at BBVA because i opened my first business acct and they had the lowest minimum daily balance, which is $0, than any other business accts at other banks. If I could give them negative stars I would. I am going thru some financial difficulties and reached out to them to get help with the auto loan I have thru them. First, I tried to defer my monthly payment until November 19th just be able to get back on track. Their response was that they can't do it because I already did a one-month deferment in May. Only allowed 1 per 12 months. Second, I then tried to refinance the vehicle for a lower monthly payment. Got denied due to a bankruptcy from 2015. Funny thing is, BBVA financed ... read more

If I could give BBVA Compass less than 1 star I would. They have horrible customer service even when you are talking face to face. I had a fraud situation and they were no help at all. I had to call customer service after hours because my bank was closed and I asked them to freeze or cancel my account to stop it. They told me they could not do either one to help me. If you want to freeze your account you should be able to. Every other bank I've had or known of lets you freeze your account when you want to. So the next day I ... read more

On 8-8-2018 I paid off two loans in full. They payoff was checks from refinancing my house. The checks were actually for more then the payoff amount meaning that Compass would owe me the overage amount. On 8-9-2018 the online account reflected the overage and stated to be credited to my account. After 11 days the overage hasn't been deposited into my account. I am a long time customer of Compass Bank. I had no major problems until last month when I tried to get some money from an ATM while on vacation. The ATM never dispensed the money I was trying to get, it didn't give a receipt either. I checked my account and they had deducted the money. It was late at night so I contacted the bank first thing the next morning to file a dispute. They credited my account within a few days and I thought that was it. Nope.
