DO NOT SIGN UP FOR BANFIELD WELLNESS PLAN, IT'S A SCAM AND YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO CANCEL. It's also NOT an pet insurance. It's a SCAM. I took my dog to Banfield to do shots and the vet and staff sold me on their wellness plan with teeth cleaning. DO NOT DO THE SAME MISTAKE. They sell you teeth cleaning but tell you that they will call you during the time your dog is under anesthesia and tell you if there need to be more services. They said that some people end up paying thousands of dollars extra for the "oral surgery" and ext... read more

Business response:

Ms. ******, you are correct that Banfield Pet Hospital does not currently offer pet insurance. Banfields Optimum Wellness Plans are packages of itemized preventive veterinary care services available at a fixed cost, such as unlimited office visits, vaccines, exams, and dental cleanings. It is also true we are often unable to determine the extent of dental disease or the need for dental extractions until a pet is fully sedated. We are sorry that your recent experiences are anything less than exceptional and we would love the ... read more

I took my dog in to get shots today, she is on the wellness plan, or was. I go in and they tell me that her plan had been canceled 4 days prior and I would have to pay for the visit in full. I had no notice that my plan was canceled. I did not renew the plan for another year, but had already paid for the month of March. I have been on the plan for 2 years and was told that she should be able to get her shots without any problem if I did it before it ended. Only problem is no one gave me a date for when it was ending. Do not ... read more

Business response:

The plan for Ellie expired on March 12, 2018, one year from the date of enrollment, as you requested that the plan not renew. We apologize if this was not fully communicated with you prior to the appointment time.

My dog passed early in Feb., 2018...I called to cancel the policy on him. Banfield tells me I have to continue paying for their services for another 8 months. I would not recommend Banfield Pet Hospital at all!!

Business response:

Thank you for reaching out to us directly and speaking with our representative regarding your account.

My son's pet whose name is ****** was taken Banfield (147 AVE 26 ST 33185) (March 8) with symptoms such as: diarrea , vomit, , the dog was there all day to be checked, and examed his feces, blood urine, all results of the lab work were negative, they also took xrays of the dog, and found that he had a swollen prostate, when my son picked up the dog the phisician said apparently the dog ate something out in the yard or might have picked up some drug. However the phisician obeserved that this dog did not eat during the day and... read more

DO NOT take your pet to Banfield. They are negligent, my dog went in for a routine teeth cleaning, and started having trouble breathing. Instead of calling me to take her to the emergency vet they waited for 5 hours, with her in a cage unable to breathe. Once I called them to check on her did I find out she was having trouble breathing, I rushed her to the emergency vet and after $3800 my precious baby was dead. Banfield is by far the most inhumane place I have seen. If you love your pets don't trust this place.

Business response:

We are so very sorry for your loss. We know that Pixie was a beloved member of your family and our thoughts go out to Ms. Tigue and her family during this difficult time. We would like to review the care that Pixie received and reach out to Ms. Tigue directly.

My 15 year old Chihuahua had been a patient at the Banfield Pet Hospital in Chatsworth CA, under the care of Dr. L********. It became obvious that my pet had lost weight (you could feel all of her bones), was in pain when picked up, and when she wasn't sleeping, she was crying in pain. I brought her in to the Banfield Pet Hospital to be humanely put to sleep. I was told by the vet that their method of euthanasia was to insert a "catheter" in her foreleg, and then to put the medication into the catheter. I asked if they could... read more

Take your pets somewhere else! All this place cares about is what they can sell you and not your pet. Dr. Hudak only spent around 3 minutes looking at my newly adopted dog on his very first visit there, he's completely updated on vaccines and already had a heartworm test which was negative but she wanted to redo everything. Before ever being seen the first thing they wanted was for me to buy a monthly payment plan for dog health plans.

Business response:

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Banfield strives to provide quality care to both our clients and our patients. We would like the opportunity to discuss your recent visit in more detail. We have asked the hospital leadership to reach out to you directly to discuss this.

I started my business with Banfield Vet Hospital almost a year ago now. I have two cats, one from back home (in CT before we deployed to CA) and one I adopted over the summer. I have never been to a vets office where I felt like the entire experience was about making money off of my animals being sick and continuing to get more sick. My sister is a vet tech, I work in pharmaceuticals and whenever I would discuss not wanting to over medicate my cats because it was not necessary, they would become very condescending and try to... read more

Business response:

Ms. ******* thank you for taking the time to provide your honest feedback. We are disheartened by your recent experiences and would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you further. The local hospital leadership would like to reopen communications, if you are interested please contact the local hospital.

Profit by pet count is all I can say. When you have a sick pet at home and need medications for breathing problems, you are last on the list to be helped. If you come in, they make money and client counts are up for profit. The doctor saw the note and did NOTHING, ALL DAY, and I would call this close to malpractice and animal neglect. Yes, BPH will spin it and make them look like they wear white hats but bottom line, you profit by the numbers and our pets suffer in their beds ALL DAY without BPH care in the world. DO NOT LIE... read more
