I first went to Banfield because I found a coupon for a free exam for my pet. I at first thought hey they must care since its a free exam. I was very wrong! Once I took my pet in they talked me into their wellness plan. They guilted me into thinking if I didn't do the plan then my dogs health wouldn't be good and I wouldn't be giving her the quality of life she deserved. I drove from my Parker, CO house to the Banfield Vet on Broadway and Highlands Ranch Pkwy in a blizzard, got there at 11:10 due to snow and ice I was 10 minutes late. I was told to have a seat until the front desk was done with another customer ahead of me. Then I was told to weight the dog and then fill out a 4 page questionnaire on a tablet at the front desk which I did. My dog got attacked by another dog at the dog park, got a scratch on his face, and started bleeding. I had never dealt with a situation like this so I took my dog to Banfield right away even though I knew it was close to closing time on a Sunday. I got there 15 minutes left before it was supposed to close and asked if my dog could be looked at. Asked if they could just look at the scratch and possibly disinfect it. I took my dog to the vet at Banfield on 11/25 due to a laceration that she received. She received some sutures and we were told to return in 10 days to have her sutures removed. A week after the incident, our dog's wound started to swell and there was liquid coming out from the wound. My wife took our dog in to have the vet examine her, however the treatment received by my wife from the person at the front desk (cannot say if she is an assistant or front desk person) was totally unprofessional. These doctors are inefficient, incompetent, and extremely negligent. My dog was having vomiting and BLOODY diarrhea. For a whole MONTH, i took him to them about THREE times. They couldn't find what was wrong with him. Of course, they did not even bothered to do was a simple blood test to determine what was the cause. However, instead they were VERY adamant and kept insisting he was physically fine. I took my dog in for an upset stomach and rash. The assistant first suggested we do a blood test. Ok, I want to be thorough, so I agreed. Then she says the total cost will be about $350, but if I signed up for the Wellness Plan, it would be $150. I declined. Then the doctor came in, listened to the details of his symptoms, and took him into the back area for an exam. I signed our puppy up for the Early Care Plus Optimum Wellness Plan that includes the spay surgery. She unfortunately has to have surgery at a different hospital (since Banfield doesn't do this surgery) for a liver shunt. It makes sense to only perform surgery on a tiny puppy once if at all possible so we are getting her spay done at the same time. I called the 800 number and was informed that they can only change our plan by shutting down the current one which requires a payment of over $400 and resigning a new contract. I ... read more

DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR PET HERE! Today my dog had a seizure and my husband rushed him to Banfield (which is the actual vet we use) They turned him away, while my dog was seizing, and told my husband they don't do emergencies. THEY HAVE PERMANENTLY LOST OUR BUSINESS.
I was with Banfield in Huntington Beach since 2009 when my dog was 10 weeks old and have paid for a wellness plan from the beginning. I transferred her plan to Fountain Valley after some issues getting a prescription for her. Unfortunately, the Fountain Valley location closed so I ended up back in Huntington Beach.
