I rented a car for three weeks and when I asked Avis for no extra coverage related to loss damage waiver and extra insurance, the Avis agent, DOUGLAS, added the loss damage waiver at a rate of $43.99/day. The print on the document I signed is very small and I didn't notice that he inflated the price. When I booked this car through the United Airlines website, the cost was estimated at $1693.13. I never saw the inflated price that he provided due to the small print and didn't realize he inflated the price to $3634.20. We cont... read more

Avis totally scammed me. I was told there was a $200 hold for damage deposit. Upon returning the car I was not given my deposit back. Never use Avis.

Absolute WORST experience I have ever had with ANY company. Ever. These guys, Avis have the worst customer service. They charged me over $400 for a one day rental that I never ended up using. Customer service just said, "oh well, there's nothing we can do." Avoid at ALL costs.

Absolutely the worst! Beware. Beware! On 9/3/23 I made an ONLINE vehicle reservation for 1 week for a car to be picked up on 11/21/23. I had to provide a credit card for the reservation (HUGE MISTAKE!). On 9/21 , 2 months before the scheduled pickup date, I realized I needed a larger vehicle to accommodate my guests. “I can’t do anything.” “That’s not possible.” “You can’t do that.” “Sorry, I can’t help you.” “You’ll have to call Avis Customer Service. We can’t do anything.” Those fictions are all you’ll hear from Avis, and you’ll hear them over and over. We heard them, repeatedly, in the Bellevue, WA office from which we rented. It was under budget. They tried to charge me for damage to the rental car 3 months after. I called asking why it took so long and for them to send me proof. They had no proof to send so they stopped the claim.

Would do zero stars if I could. Avoid using Avis for your rental company. We rented a 12 passenger van months before our family trip. A trip that was to be spent relaxing and non stress as a family. Before my husbands bone marrow transplant. Day before we were to pick up van we got a phone call from the jetport site in Portland Maine. Girl stated she was confirming we were still picking up van the following day because they had too many rentals for a van and not enough vans.
