I rented a suburban from avis for a family vacation from downtown Akron store i retuned the car an hour early after sweeping the car twice we went to the beach they told me there was sand in it maybe a handful. we went to the beach i went and swept it 2 more times. i was told it looked fine. my bill was to be 1039 dollars the charged me for 2 extra days for a $1586 total and said i returned it on a sunday in which they are not even open. after several tries and 45 min on hold i got a customer service person with poor english... read more

My family came into town to visit the national parks and had reserved a car and prepaid 3 months ahead. When we got into town they didn't have the car we had ordered and would only accommodate us with lower quality vehicles and refused to refund us. When we got the worse vehicle at the same price we found out the tire were bald leaking and and a bulge in the side wall. Rented a car in Portland and my family and I decided to take a trip to Washington. As we were returning to Portland, we heard a sound coming from the engine which led to the car breaking down. We called roadside assistance; we were presented with an option to get a **** and were told we would be refunded for the trip back. Avis is terrible! Period! Very poor customer service and shady billing tactics. I reserved a rental on 6/27/22 for a period of 6/27/22-6/30/22. Scheduled picked up 11:30AM. Scheduled drop-off 11:30AM. I picked up the truck at San Jose International at 11:26AM and returned at Sacramento International at 8:58AM. This is only a distance of 127 miles. Worst car rental company! I usually don't leave reviews since I feel that anybody could have a bad day, but what Avis/Budget did was beyond any bad experience an average person could expect! our only vacation for this year was in Dallas to visit family. we arrived at Dallas Love-field airport and went to Avis via shuttle. no room inside so there was a long line outside in the heat (90 degrees). waited an hour or more and finally got in. they got us an SUV which has been booked online few weeks prior to our trip. after a da... read more

This company's business practices are predatory. I was quoted a price online for a particular date and time, both were changed during the transmission of the reservation. I called to correct this issue and I was told that there was nothing that could be done. Then, I showed them another price comparison to budget, which is the same company and they wouldn't price match. When I returned the car, they charged me for fuel that I didn't use. Disappointed is an understatement. We only used Avis because Enterprise was closed at the Dallas airport. We had been stranded in Dallas with no flight home, they did not have a car available for one way. However, the agent said after we left the airport it was up to us where we returned it we would just have to pay $350 for returning to the wrong location - we agreed since we just wanted to get home. We had reservations in St Louis in advance. When we got to the lot to pick up our rental it took an hour and 45 mins to get through the line and pick up our car. It costed quite a bit more than what we were quoted through ****** travel and we missed our 1st appt. About 1.5 hrs down the road we got pulled over. The officer told us that the registration had expired in April! He told us to get in touch with the rental company and that if we get pulled over again we could get a ticket. I have a reservation coming up in 3 days and AVIS quoted me back in march, $141.85. But now as of today, they want to charge me $260.57. The rep I spoke to said that there was a modification done. I spoke to 3 different reps and they all said that they cannot spot any modifications on my reservation, but since the system says there was one done, they have to go with the new rate.
